Taking part in the kiss cam is almost a rite of passage at U.S. sports games. Indeed, if you see yourself up on the big screen, it’s basically an unwritten rule that it’s time to pucker up. But when one guy refused to play along, his girlfriend thought on her feet to ensure that the crowd weren’t disappointed.
NBA games in the U.S. draw in crowds of up to 21,000 people per game on average, with the Chicago Bulls topping the attendance list for the 2017 season. That means there’s usually no shortage of spectators ready to lock lips for the kiss cam.
And kiss cams have become increasingly popular to the point that they’re now ubiquitous in stadium sports throughout North America. During a pause in the game, the jumbotron screens will focus on a couple, whom the crowd will then either cheer or boo depending on whether they kiss or not.
