Taking part in the kiss cam is almost a rite of passage at U.S. sports games. In fact, if you see yourself up on the big screen, it’s basically an unwritten rule that it’s time to pucker up. But when one guy refused to play along, his girlfriend thought on her feet to ensure that the crowd weren’t disappointed.
NBA games can draw average crowds of over 21,000 people per fixture, with the Chicago Bulls topping the attendance list for the 2017 season. And that means there’s usually no shortage of spectators ready to lock lips for the kiss cam.
Kiss cams have, moreover, become increasingly popular to the point that they’re now ubiquitous in stadium sports throughout North America. During a pause in the game, the jumbotron screens will focus on a couple, whom the crowd will then either cheer or boo depending on whether or not they kiss.
