Less than half a mile from the Raystown Branch Juniata River in Bedford, Pennsylvania, lies a brick mansion unlike any other nearby. And this unique property is, in fact, on sale for just under half a million dollars. On the outside it may appear grand; inside, however, the house hides a creepy history that will shock whoever ends up calling it home.
Built in 1895, the Penn Street property complements others in the area thanks to its red-brick facade. Indeed, such a feature is common among Bedford’s 200 buildings, some of which reflect Italianate, Greek Revival and Federal styles. Not everything about this building blends in, however.
This part of Pennsylvania may feel far from the urban metropolis of Philadelphia, but Bedford isn’t a typical small-town backwater. Indeed, it’s had at least one famous visitor over the years, with the 23rd president, Benjamin Harrison, being among the most illustrious.
