But did you know that there was an “Ice King” who had to struggle for years and endure debtors’ prison until he managed to convince people they wanted ice in their drinks?
Frederic Tudor’s ideas was born after a chance remark from his brother about how the colonists in the West Indies would love ice how and he should ship some from his pond. Just a little joke, but Frederic took it seriously. In the end, after 30 years of struggle to convince bartenders and rooming houses of the virtues of his ice, he shipped hundreds of tons of the stuff around the world to entrench his name forever as the “Ice King”.
