As for Gene, he is only able to see small amounts through his peripheral vision – and nothing directly in front of him at all. The result, then, leaves him assembling scenes in parts, much like putting together a jigsaw puzzle.
However, Stargardt disease doesn’t close Gene off completely from the world.
