Morrow knew that he was leaving his beloved animals’ fate in the hands of Mother Nature, but he felt his hands were tied. He found it difficult to explain to his family too. Morrow said later, “The hardest part of everything [was] having to explain to my… son why I left without taking all the animals. He is more of an animal lover than even me, which is almost close to impossible, and he was the hardest to accept the harsh reality.” All of the family just had to hope for the best.
However, hours after leaving his animals behind, a despairing Morrow started to lose all hope of ever seeing them again. “Later that evening I got a picture from my neighbor showing the water up to my roof of my home,” he revealed to the Daily Mail. “I knew at that point the little animals were gone. That was a very hard night.”
