The Evolution of Patient Safety
Today, health records and disposable syringes are the sorts of things we take for granted that our healthcare systems will provide, but as recently as the early 20th century, neither was even heard of. What’s more, it was only in 1847 that hand washing and fingernail scrubbing became common practice among medical practitioners. This infographic neatly illustrates how concern for patient safety has developed over the last couple of millennia. Fascinating stuff.
