Even though periods can affect moods, diets and sex schedules, the very topic of menstruation may be off the table for new couples. Once that honeymoon, well, period, is done and dusted, however, and reality has kicked in, that taboo will be broken as quickly as it takes to say, “Pass me the Advil and chocolate.”

While some may believe that leaving the bathroom door open when you pee removes all the mystique from a relationship, trust us: your partner already knows that you have the same bodily functions as the rest of humankind. And it’s just plain harder to hold a conversation when you have to shout through a big chunk of wood, anyway.
