Thankfully, that same day the couple had a scheduled appointment to see a doctor for the baby’s final ultrasound and check-up. After performing a routine examination, the doctor told them, “You guys should go across to the hospital. I think you’re in labor.” Moreover, due to the baby’s size, a traditional birth would have been dangerous.
And when the baby seemed to have become stuck during the delivery, doctors urged the mother to have an emergency C-section. Jordyn was in labor for 24 hours in total, which she later described as “the worst experience ever.” Nonetheless, baby Beauden Eppard was eventually born at a healthy 8 pounds and 11 ounces on July 1, 2017.
“I did not want him to come on the first at all because it was 17 days early,” Jordyn later told Today. “That can sometimes cause problems. For me, I just wanted him to be healthy more than anything.” Her husband Connor agreed, adding, “We didn’t necessarily want him to be born two weeks early because there’s always a risk.”
