As Marks explained to Local 12, “What I thought was going on was that [Ault] couldn’t breathe. And when I got out there, I was right.” And the young attendant’s instincts kicked in even further: as well as helping Ault inside, he also gave her water.
Ault herself was barely able to communicate. Clearly struggling, in fact, she could scarcely get the message across that she needed help. It was only Marks’ quick reactions that evidently saved Ault from a situation that could have had very dire consequences.
