A resident of Gladstone, Missouri, Jacob had one thing on his mind as his birthday approached in the summer of 2018. Knowing that he wanted a lemonade stand, his sister bought one for him as a gift, likely delighting the eight-year-old. Next, he put up the stand in his mom’s front yard.

Charging customers 50 cents a cup, Jacob’s business had gone down well in his neighborhood, with the youngster crediting that success to one thing in particular. “The secret is the lemons,” he told NBC-affiliate KSHB-TV in July 2018. “We squeeze them, that’s the secret to lemonade.”
