What’s more, the YouTube star decided that it was important to raise awareness about this issue. To that end, then, Persin cooked up a plan that would make for a fascinating social experiment.

The start of the resulting video shows Persin telling the camera that child marriage is in fact legal in some U.S. states, highlighting that the issue is not confined to countries further afield. He also explains how children are still legally allowed to marry at 12 years of age in parts of the U.S.

As a result, Persin subsequently staged a photoshoot in the middle of Times Square, New York, aiming to increase public awareness of these facts. The intention was to shock New Yorkers and make them think about whether it is right to allow children to get married.
