16. Not being able to drink legally as a freshman

Okay, so freshmen obviously do drink at college. But having to do it under the radar, without the freedom to rock up to any liquor store you like and buy whatever you want? To countries with a legal drinking age of 18 or 19, like the U.K. and Canada, respectively, that just seems crazy.

15. How great college gyms are

American college gyms are typically huge, clean and full of all the latest equipment. Sometimes, they’re also stunning-looking, both inside and out. That’s not typically the case at international colleges, however, where you’ll be lucky to find anything better than a few aging treadmills stuck into a side room.
