Here, the specialist could look at the mark and determine whether it was cause for alarm. Davis agreed with Phillips’ concern and ordered a biopsy.

When the biopsy results came back, they revealed that Korey had a melanoma on her head. Luckily though, Korey explains, “If you’re going to have melanoma, it’s the best melanoma to have. They talked about a melanoma in situ.” This means Korey’s melanoma is, “just at the skin level, the epidermis level and it hadn’t infiltrated down.”
