Despite the police inaction, an image of Tiah in her school uniform had begun circulating on Facebook. But, although the post reached thousands of social media users, it threw up no sightings of the missing girl or clues to her whereabouts. Then, on November 5 – six days after she went missing – police finally released official photographs of Tiah along with an appeal for more information.
On the same day that the police stepped up their hunt for Tiah, three fishermen stumbled upon a shocking find by the Gold Coast’s Pimpama River. The site was a mere 18 and a half miles from where the little girl had disappeared. There, on a bank beside the water, the anglers discovered a decaying set of human remains.
