Georgia Legislature Loves Sugar Gliders

Georgia, which apparently was not among the 46 states that allow citizens to keep sugar gliders as pets, passed a measure allowing that Wednesday on the strength of a personal appearance by one of the little darlings.

The Australian natives–which are best described as bite-sized versions of a flying squirrel– were advocated by Rep. John Bulloch, who…well, read for yourself. From the AJC:

Sen. John Bulloch (R-Ochlocknee) pulled a sugar glider from his pocket on the Senate floor Wednesday as he pitched a bill that would allow Georgians to keep the critters…

It proceeded to walk around his arm as he addressed the assembled senators, who subsequently passed the measure 58-0.
