Is A Green Tax The Way Forward?

It’s no lie that the environment and the air itself are being damaged in quality by our pollution. Corporations are simply shifting the pollution problem around in buying carbon offsetting credits. In truth, the pollution is not really offset – companies are simply paying off their green guilt. Eventually we’ll reach a tipping point. In fact we might already have but we just don’t know it yet. Needless to say, something needs to be done about it.

Instead of all this buying off of responsibility, a carbon/green tax should be introduced. Industrial companies as well as oil refineries and the like have made enough profit, and now it is time for them to help consumers for once. You might be thinking we could just develop more solar energy and improve the technology. Well, it’s not as easy as you may think, because it’s still a relatively new technology and costly. For now, the tax would be helpful in funding more research and development into solar energy and other forms of renewable power.

As time passes, the tax will surely prove useful, and maybe consumers will actually appreciate corporations for pursuing a good cause and not falsely misleading “initiatives” that they take to look green. It’s bad enough that new technology is costly, but someone has to pay for it otherwise the first step will never be taken, just waiting to be done.
