The “I Want Candy” performer continued to dominate the charts. His next two LPs were smash hits: 2001’s Oh Aaron and 2002’s Another Earthquake! However, soon after, the spotlight would shift onto more personal matters for the pop star. And they threatened to bring his musical career to a halt.
First there was the lawsuit against teen pop mogul Ron Pearlman, who had managed him. Carter sued Pearlman for unpaid six-digit royalties generated from his album sales. Then record label Trans Continental sued Carter in 2006 for allegedly reneging on a contract agreement.
However, in 2008, the cracks really began to show for the tween heartthrob. He was arrested in March of that year for possessing almost two ounces of marijuana while driving in Texas. And it happened again earlier this year.
