Carrie Underwood had some exciting news for fans when she announced that she was planning another tour. But that wasn’t the only announcement she made. After discussing her upcoming concerts, the singer revealed a major secret – and her admirers were amazed.
Underwood was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma in March of 1983, and grew up on a farm owned by her mother and father. The 35-year-old always loved to sing and as a child would perform at church and events within the community. When she was 14 years old, she nearly got her big break after landing an audition at Capitol Records in Nashville.
The teenager was offered a contract but it fell through after the label installed new management. A few years later, after graduating high school, she was headed to Northeastern State University. By that time she had all but abandoned her hope of making it as a successful musician. “After high school, I pretty much gave up on the dream of singing. I had reached a point in my life where I had to be practical and prepare for my future in the ‘real world,’” she has said, according to a biography published in 2010.
