Minnestota-born actor Chris Pratt married Maryland comedienne Anna Faris in 2009 in a match made in Hollywood. At the time, it seemed to be an exciting whirlwind of a romance – the stars eloped together to Bali, Indonesia, to tie the knot. But unfortunately, although the pair appeared to have a good run, their relationship did not last the course. You see, in August 2017, the couple announced that they were separating, and four months later official divorce papers were served. A dignified silence was observed by both parties, but when Pratt finally opened up about the whole situation, what he had to say was surprising.
Back when the now 38-year-old Pratt and Faris, now 41, first got together, the younger actor had not yet achieved the A-list Hollywood stardom which seems to define him now. The pair met in 2007 while working on the film Take Me Home Tonight, which ended up being both a box office and critical flop on its release in 2011. Nevertheless, the two leads’ onscreen romance turned into a real one and proved popular with their fanbase.
Bearing in mind that both stars enjoy a high profile in Tinsel Town, their courtship could be said to have been quite conventional. However, the wedding that followed took place under some pretty strange circumstances. Having eloped to Bali, both of them were struck down with bad food poisoning. And in May 2018 Faris spoke to the Irish Independent newspaper about what happened next. “I was looking for chicken broth on the room service menu and saw the hotel also did weddings. While still feverish, Chris said, ‘Let’s do it,’” the actress recalled. “So the staff found us some traditional Balinese clothes and a local priest. We had no idea what was going on, but we came back married.”
