There was a time when post-credits scenes were little more than bonus snippets of footage that didn’t really impact movies’ central stories. Since the rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, the concept has become incredibly involved. In fact, some post-credits sequences are now just as important as many Marvel films’ main scenes. So here’s a closer look at the post-credits clip in Captain Marvel – which one fan theory claims has particular significance.
In case you didn’t know, though, Captain Marvel actually entered its development stage way back in the summer of 2013. And when the sci-fi blockbuster was announced to the public some 17 months later, the film instantly marked a Marvel milestone. You see, Captain Marvel represents the first time that the studio has made a movie centered entirely on a female superhero.
So in July 2016, at the annual comic convention in San Diego, Marvel officially revealed Oscar-winner Brie Larson as the film’s leading lady. And in the spring of 2017 Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck also signed up for directing duties. Shooting then finally got underway on the project the following March in California.
