Harry Potter And Newt Scamander May Have Run Into Each Other At Hogwarts – And There’s Proof

Though technically speaking Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a prequel, J.K. Rowling called it “neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” on her Facebook page in 2013. “Newt’s story will start in New York, 70 years before Harry’s gets under way,” she wrote.

So the chances of Newt Scamander ever meeting Harry Potter, it seemed, were pretty low. They had two separate stories. And besides, Newt Scamander would probably have already died of old age by the time Harry was a young man. Or would he? Wizards do, after all, have a much longer lifespan than the average Muggle. Albus Dumbledore was 115 when he died!
