Being the child of a rock star isn’t always plain sailing. After all, while you may possess both popularity and wealth, you can also experience a whole lot of media intrusion. And, accordingly, many of these 40 people grew up in the spotlight – whether they wanted to or not. Now, however, these kids of well-known musicians are forging their own paths in life, with some even having decided to follow in their parents’ footsteps.

40. Zak Starkey

The Beatles’ Ringo Starr didn’t want his son, Zak, to become a drummer like him. Fate had other plans, though, as Zak was gifted his first kit by The Who’s Keith Moon. Then the youngster joined a garage band. And the rest is history; now, he tours with The Who.

39. Pixie Geldof

Pixie is one of the daughters of Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof, and throughout her career she’s seen success in both modeling and music. However, Pixie’s life hasn’t been immune from tragedy. In 2000 her mother Paula Yates died of a drug overdose, while her sister Peaches sadly suffered the same fate 14 years later.
