Boris Urmatov was a little disturbed to see a 10-foot long chunk of metal come crashing down next to his outhouse, to the Russian shepherd did what I expect any American would have done–filed a lawsuit.

Boris is seeking 1 Million Rubles from Roskosmos, the Russian space agency, because he believes the chunk was from a failed launch over his home is Khazakstan (make your Borat jokes now).

Mr. Urmatov, who is blind, woke up in the middle of the night to an explosion, but failed to notice the giant metal casings raning down from the heavens. Instead, the next morning, he noticed what his sister calls a casing, ten feet long, and “as smooth as an egg.”

Obviously emotionally disturbed, Mr. Urmatov lawyered up, and filed suit. Roskosmos, for its part, doesn’t believe it did anything to merit this treatment– they warn residents of a launch in advance, and pay damages if fallen chunks of their work hit anything. So why not merely pay the man and move on?

“What is abnormal is when somebody gets greedy, and it turns out the parts did not fall on his land, but that they were dragged there. Those moments are not good.”
