The Pennsylvania State police charged a man with public intoxication after he was seen giving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a stinking, long-dead opossum along a highway.
Trooper Jamie Levier stated that several people witnessed 55-year-old Donald Wolfe, of Brookville, holding the animal along Route 36 in Oliver Township Thursday at about 3pm. The trooper says one person saw Wolfe kneeling before the animal and gesturing as though he were conducting some type of ceremony, while another witness saw Wolfe either kissing the dead opossum or giving it mouth-to-mouth.
Levier says Wolfe was “extremely intoxicated” and “did have his mouth in the
area of the animal’s mouth.”
Donald Wolfe was taken to jail and the opossum was left alongside the road.
