If Kim Kardashian Were Different Disney Princesses, Here’s What Her Selfies Would Look Like

In a way, Kim Kardashian is a bit like a real-life Disney princess. She’s gorgeous, glamorous and rich, and while she may not be actual royalty, she’s certainly Instagram royalty. And so to celebrate the release of Kim’s new selfie book in 2015, Cosmopolitan decided to commission artist Isaiah Stephens to recreate some of the reality star’s best self-portraits – with a special Disney twist. These are Disney princesses behaving like you’ve never seen them before.

Kim Kardashian just loves to take selfies, regardless of whether the situation really calls for one or not. “#TBT last night right before I fell asleep with all of my make up on,” she captioned this one. Now that’s not very princess-like…

But Isaiah Stephens, a Massachusetts-based artist, didn’t see it that way. In fact, he’s done lots of Disney-related art for Cosmopolitan magazine. For example, he’s drawn Disney Princesses such as Pocahontas as mothers, as Pokemon, as manatees… and now, as Kardashians.

Although, there’s not much in Kardashian’s selfies that really scream “Disney” sometimes. After all, Disney and their princess line are advertised as very much clean-cut and family-friendly. And Kardashian – who posed in this red bikini in February 2015 to celebrate hitting 27 million Instagram followers – is… not.

But Stephens didn’t let that stop him. Moreover, he had drawn Disney characters in slightly raunchier poses before, a creative decision that caused some commenters to complain that he had actually ruined their childhood.

And although Kardashian herself hasn’t offered any comment on the project, she obviously loves Disney princesses. In fact, she even dressed up as Princess Jasmine once! So it’s probably fair to assume that she wouldn’t mind being Disneyfied one bit.

Especially since now she is Princess Jasmine! Kanye West is her Aladdin, of course, albeit one who’s fast asleep on a giant bed instead of running around with a Genie fighting palace guards and giant snakes.

But would Disney princesses have taken selfies if their movie timelines allowed for it? Let’s face it, they probably would have – especially if their own palaces were as large and luxurious as Kardashian’s place of residence.

Cinderella, for example, after a lifetime of being put-upon by her evil stepsisters, would have probably loved the idea of photographing every aspect of one’s life and sharing it online to make people jealous. Luckily, however, Kardashian’s own step-sisters and siblings are anything but ugly – or evil.

In fact, let’s not forget that Kardashian also frequently shares pictures of her adorable family. And seeing her standing like this in a huge wardrobe room having an “outfit struggle” with her sweet young daughter North at her side is enough to make anyone envious.

And when recreating the famous selfie Stephens turned little North into Mulan’s dragon sidekick Mushu, which is super cute. However, he also took the wardrobe out, since Mulan – the warrior princess – really isn’t the type to obsess over clothes like Kim does.

Kardashian’s various famous celebrity friends often appear in her selfies too. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, for example, made an appearance in this Grammys shot. “This is the Beck won that award face?!?!?!” Kim captioned it.

Stephens reimagined Kim Kardashian, Legend and Teigen as Tiana, Naveen and Charlotte from The Princess and the Frog. And while the music tastes of any of those characters is not known, presumably they were still shocked that Beck won that award…

Blac Chyna used to appear in Kardashian’s selfies too, once upon a time. In fact, the pair were actually pretty good friends at one stage, but it all collapsed when Chyna’s one-time fiancé Tyga started dating Kardashian’s half-sister Kylie Jenner.

But maybe they both should have just… let it go. Stephens redrew Kim and Blac as the uber popular Frozen sisters Elsa and Anna, albeit wearing some very different attire to what they wore in the smash hit movie.

Still, maybe it’s not too late for Kardashian to put on a more modest dress and make a bid to become a real Disney princess. Indeed, she’s got the riches, she’s got the hair, she’s got the style, and it’s not like Disney princesses can’t also be sexy.

Take Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, for example. Alright, she’s not a fully fledged princess exactly, but she still counts! She’s long been considered one of the sexiest Disney women. In fact, there’s even a scene in the (surprisingly, G-rated) 1998 movie where she pole dances.

So Disney princesses actually pair up pretty well with the sexier aspects of pop culture. In fact, Stephens did another piece for Cosmopolitan with Disney princesses redone as Britney Spears – including Cinderella as the pop star during her “Baby One More Time” era.

“These were really fun to draw! I really enjoyed the flashbacks to my preteen and teenage years!” Stephens wrote on Facebook. And Ariel – who is the princess Kendall Jenner considers big sister Kardashian to be most like – also made an appearance as “Oops, I Did It Again” Britney.

On the pop culture-loving web, good Disney fanart can very much get you noticed. And that’s exactly what’s happening to Isaiah Stephens. In fact, he’s becoming the go-to guy for creative Disney crossovers.

Stephens now has over 57,000 followers on Instagram, where he describes himself as “That Disney Mashup Guy.” And so even if Kardashian herself hasn’t seen his pictures honoring her selfie-taking skills, the rest of the world is certainly very impressed.
