Dalmatian Coast, Croatia

"I spent a week sailing along Croatia's Dalmatian Coast, and it was one of the best trips of my life — there was wifi on the boat, so I'd spend the mornings getting some work done, and then the rest of the day was swimming, soaking up some sun out on the deck, and exploring the coastal towns' dining and drinking scenes (there are a lot of local wineries in the area, so that was my MO). If you get a group together to go in on a boat rental (Sunsail is my operator of choice), it ends up being relatively affordable, and the costs on land are generally reasonable too. So after the flight costs, it's ~smooth sailing~ from there." — Céline Bossart

Mexico City, Mexico

"Mexico's capital may not have beaches, but its affordability, exciting food scene, and numerous historical and cultural attractions make it a suitable destination to visit all year round. However, there's even more reason to go in the Spring. For example, jacaranda season, spanning from mid-February to April, sees the streets lined with stunning blue-violet jacaranda flowers, which is perfect if you're trying to capture content for the 'Gram. There's also the Spring Equinox festival, taking place in nearby Teotihuacan, where revelers dance to music, chant, and, in an age-old ritual, climb the Pyramid of the Sun. The temperate evenings in the Spring also make Mexico City an ideal destination for sampling the abundant nightlife: some of the best spots to go out are in the neighborhoods of Condesa and Roma." — Oneika Raymond of Oneika the Traveller

Bangkok, Thailand

"After making it through a cold winter, what could be better than a tropical vacation? Flights to Bangkok can be found on any travel site often at a discount. I can usually find a good flight price on Skycanner or kiwi.com.

When booking accommodations, I always suggest searching Agoda. They have the best rates in Asia. I also love that you can sort through the reviews. For example, I could check the reviews of only solo travelers that have stayed at that location. Or I can read what couples who stayed there thought. This has helped me make informed decisions especially when it comes to the location of accommodation. It's essential to be central. That way sightseeing is an ease. You can get to and from the things you want to do without getting stuck in Bangkok traffic.

Unlike some western countries, Asia has INCREDIBLE hostels. In my opinion, some of the hostels in Bangkok are better than some of the hotels I've stayed in. The reality is, for half the price of a hotel room you can get a private room in a nice hostel. I'm talking about a hostel with a pool, free breakfast and fast WiFi. I actually prefer to stay in hostels because as a solo traveler, it gives me an opportunity to meet other people. My favorite one is Hom Hostel & Cooking Club. I can afford a private or shared dorm, the beds are more comfortable than my bed at home and there is a free traditional Thai breakfast and Thai cooking demo daily. I can't tell you how many times meeting someone at my hostel has led to exploring the city together and even traveling to different countries together. Some people aren't aware that you can get the same amenities at a hostel (private room, clean space, and comfy bed), but you are more likely to make new friends because of the communal aspect of hostels and you'll save a pretty penny.

Not only is Thai food delicious and plentiful, it's cheap. I'm talking under $2 for a meal of fresh prawn green curry and rice! And if you only take one thing away from this, it should be drink ALL the fruit smoothies. You can get them literally everywhere for about a dollar and you'll get to taste what fruit is supposed to taste like.

In Bangkok, using the SkyTrain to see the city is practical because of traffic and affordable. The taxis will overcharge you and will almost never turn on the meter. Instead they will haggle with you before heading to your destination. Avoid this by using Grab, the Uber of Asia. You'll save yourself money and the headache of bartering.

The final reason to visit Thailand: massage! In general, you can get an hour Thai Massage for just under $10. To me, that's reason enough to book a flight!" — Annette of From Annette With Love and Fat Girls Traveling

Bali

"My answer might be a bit biased because I'm currently writing this while sipping a matcha latte sitting in the sunshine, but my favorite affordable destination has got to be Bali! It's the best value for the quality of life of anywhere else I've been! You can stay in the most beautiful villa overlooking the jungle for less than $100 a night, have the most incredible and nutritiously dense meals for under $10 (that's a main course, a smoothie and a raw desert!) and stock up on all of your beauty treatments (the other day I got a 2.5-hour massage and facial treatment for $22!).

Whether you're looking for a relaxing getaway or an adventure, Bali has it all! Countless waterfalls to swim in, a volcano to climb for sunrise, surfing and so much more! My top 3 spots to visit are Ubud, Uluwatu, and Canggu. Ubud is known for it's hippie, down to earth vibe. Many of the travelers going to Ubud are on a spiritual journey — usually getting their yoga or meditation teacher training. Ubud Center makes a big loop so you can walk everywhere, which is great! This is also where you'll find the Monkey Forest and the rice fields you've likely seen on Instagram.

For the best beaches in Bali you've got to head down to Uluwatu. You can spend the day at beach club, usually a bit on the pricier side but worth it for the crystal clear water!). Canggu is one of the more commonly visited places in Bali so there are a ton of Australian-vibe cafes (think avo toast and smoothie bowls) that were designed with Instagram in mind, beaches to watch the sunset from and some of the best shopping on the island! All I can say is, I've been to over 50 countries in the last 4 years and Bali, Indonesia is the one I come back to the most. You'll love it!" — Raya of Raya Was Here

Barbados

"I would recommend Barbados as a fun and affordable Spring Break destination. It's one of my favorite Caribbean islands, and with an exchange rate of 2 to 1 for the U.S. dollar, you just can't beat it. While Barbados has an array of all-inclusive and luxury options, you can also rent an Airbnb or a villa for an affordable rate without sacrificing the comfort. To save a little extra cash, take the local bus to get around and make sure you stop by the Oistins Fish Fry. They have live entertainment on Friday nights and serve up gigantic portions for as low as $10-20 a meal!" — Francesca of One Girl: One World

Savannah, Georgia

"If you're looking for an amazing and affordable destination this spring, head south to Savannah for some sweet, southern charm. This super walkable city is convenient and easy to navigate, with 22 historic squares sprinkled throughout the city. Savannah is a foodie paradise, home to delicious restaurants like Collins Quarter and Treylor Park, and the famed Leopold’s Ice Cream. Travelers can save money by skipping the fancy hotels and instead booking a local home through Lucky Savannah." — Collette & Scott of Roamaroo

Jamaica

"Looking for a cheap, trendy getaway with amazing food and vibrant nightlife? Definitely check out Jamaica! Jamaica has a party vibe like no other. There are tons of all inclusive options, so depending on your budget you can go 5 star and vacation like royalty, or try one of the adorable 3-4 star resorts that are way more affordable that are right on the beach and to be honest, have more of a fun vibe.

Do you want to try Jamaican food? Take a quick taxi ride to Scotchies for their real authentic Jamaican jerk cuisine. You can also check out the Luminous Lagoon in Falmouth, one of approx. four luminous lagoons in the world! You can take a drive to St. Thomas to swim under the Reggae Falls. Or if you just want to relax, you can sit on the beach in Negril with white sand and clear blue water while sipping on a Red Stripe. There is something for everyone. Jamaicans take tourism very seriously, so it is safe to move around the island (I would suggest hiring a guide who knows the ins and outs) and with an exchange rate of $1 US to $127 JMD, your money will go far." — Nikki of Nikki World Boss

Egypt

"The best time to go to Egypt is now! Because tourism is still down due to fear spread through incorrect information portrayed in the media, Egypt is lacking in visitors, which is very unfortunate. The country is extremely affordable once you get there and with all the history, rich foods, friendly people, and the incredible sights, you'll wonder why you didn't visit before. One of the most unique experiences to have while there is to take a felucca sailboat ride down the Nile River with a Nubian crew and sleep onboard under the stars. If you love meat, kofta is a tasty spiced minced dish that tastes great with some flatbread and rice, and it can be found all over the country. And of course, visiting every single temple and pyramid is a must and will ruin museums for you forever because they'll never live up to walking through the real thing." — Sam of Some Call Me Adventurous

Lisbon, Portugal

"Lisbon, the beautiful Portuguese capital, is one of my favorite affordable travel destinations in spring. With warm Mediterranean weather and culture for days, Lisbon is a whirl of activity long before the summer crowds begin. From seasonal music and film festivals to rooftop bars and delicious pastelarias to botanical gardens and art museums, there's so much to see and do. Food and drink in Lisbon is significantly cheaper than neighboring European cities, with inexpensive transport, electric nightlife, and lots of free activities.

The things I loved doing most in Lisbon didn't cost a thing. I recommend spending a few days simply walking around and getting lost in the city's artsy streets or strolling along the Tagus River with your camera in hand. Stay in an Airbnb if you can, so you can cook or prepare all your own meals in advance. The local supermarkets are cheap, so you can pack a picnic of sandwiches and fresh fruits every day, especially if you're planning to spend some breezy days down at the beach!" — Mel of Illumelation

Medellín, Colombia

"This is a great location to go if you're looking for an exotic experience while still saving some bucks. For starters, the USD will go a long way once converted into pesos and as a recommendation, always carry cash since in many South American countries you can bargain yourself into even better deals. Don't be afraid to bargain with local vendors when heading on tours and shopping at local markets. Medelliín is a great spring break destination for those looking for a mix of gorgeous landscapes as well as a vivid night scene. One must see destination is El Penol, a massive rock embedded in between beautiful mountains surrounded by bodies of water." — Sebastian & Espe of TwoTrends

Mexico City, Mexico

"Despite the political climate, our beloved neighboring country Mexico is the perfect destination for affordable travel this spring. Sure there are stunning coastlines in places like Playa del Carmen, Cancun, and Cabo, but I urge you to venture a bit further, get outside the box and explore off the beaten path down to Mexico City, also referred to as CDMX. CMDX makes for an affordable spring 2019 destination. Due to its proximity to the U.S., you can snag a flight from as low as $175 round trip if you book enough in advance. Once you arrive there are plenty of Airbnbs to choose from that won’t kill your pockets, and the street food scene is to die for. Tacos, Flautas, and Elote on every corner will make the foodie in you go crazy without your bank account going into overdraft.

Tips:

- Make use of Uber. You can get around the city pretty easily for less than $4.

- Visit the pyramids of Teotihuacan to witness the ancient temple ruins.

- Spend the day in Coyoacán, get to know the Frida Kahlo museum (get your tickets in advanced online to skip the crazy queue), shop in the street markets and grab a cup of coffee at Café Negro.

- Don’t miss the beautiful parks, monuments, and street art, all free of charge." — Jakiya of The Traveling Fro
