Just when you thought cats, dogs, rabbits and hamsters couldn’t get any more adorable, it turns out they can – at least if these 20 are anything to go by. Indeed, the cute critters look like they’re melting away into the surroundings, presumably in the midst of the world’s strongest heatwave. This bird, for instance, appears to have melted straight down into the hand on which it’s perched. Still, at least it looks comfortable, despite its obvious current predicament. We’re just glad its owner managed to catch it in time.
This must be why owls only come out at night – by day, the sunlight causes them to melt. Then again, this particular owl doesn’t seem to give a hoot. Indeed, if owls really could smile, then that’s exactly what we’d say this one was doing right now.
Have you ever seen a hamster as flat as these precious little creatures? They’ve apparently melted so much that they’re almost two-dimensional. You can’t deny they look tremendously at peace with the world, however. Would that we were so Zen.
This poor kitty appears to have melted mid-journey while attempting to slink away from its bed. Presumably, the floor is made of lava and that’s why it’s having such trouble. That’s the only reasonable explanation we can think of, anyway.
Ever seen a cat turn into a puddle? Well, you have now, anyway. To be fair, cats are well known for transcending their solid matter, able to turn to liquid at a moment’s notice. And lying out in the heat like this just ensures a more even tan. Right?
Like an ice-cream cone dripping away in the summer sun, these ducks appear to be perilously close to becoming victims of an intense heatwave. However, unlike ice-cream cones, we don’t think licking them will be the ideal solution here.
If you didn’t know any better, you might think this dog was some kind of waxwork melting away into the floor. Alarmingly enough, it’s actually a real pooch. But thankfully, we reckon it’s just a severe case of stretchy skin rather than it turning to liquid.
To be fair, leather – or even faux-leather – can get pretty hot in the summer. It’s little wonder, then, that this adorable hamster is seemingly dissolving in front of our eyes. Someone should probably fetch a spatula…
We’re pretty sure this cat literally has melted. After all, have you ever seen a kitty with such a long body? Yes, this one’s definitely been stretched out by its melting middle, like a particularly gooey piece of string cheese.
This poor pooch is having a ruff time of it. Indeed, his face is already in the later stages of dissolution, forming a flat puddle of doggy disaster all over his bed. Even his tongue is making a sticky break for it. Alas, pup: we hardly knew ye.
If we didn’t have the original image caption to tell us, we’d struggle to pin down exactly what this amorphous blob was supposed to be. In fact, it’s a chinchilla on a hammock – because what else would it be? Well, a melted one, of course.
Like some kind of adorable giant marshmallow, if this hamster didn’t have a face, you’d have to keep it out of reach of small children. After all, they might think it’s the perfect thing to top off their hot chocolate.
This poor bunny looks like he’s desperately trying to escape his liquid fate. But it’s no use – everything has a melting point. Even, it seems, rabbits. All he can hope for now is that someone might come along to refreeze him.
That’s one hot dog. Who knew pups had such an insane body mass that they could melt so wildly all over the floor? We guess there’s nothing left to do but fetch a mop and bucket and try to dry him back out into solid matter.
It’s no wonder cats hate water. After all, just look what happens when they get near even the tiniest drop of liquid. Indeed, like the Wicked Witch of the West, they quickly melt away. By that logic, then, this must have been one of those evil cats…
Then again, looking at this soggy specimen, it’s hard to believe that he could contain an ounce of evil. Just look at that terrified face and tell us that’s the reason he’s melting. No, it’s clearly going to take a little more detective work to get to the bottom of this one.
We bet that just moments before, this poor kitty was sitting peacefully on the couch, minding its own business. Until, of course, the heat kicked in. After that, it won’t have taken long for it to start melting onto the floor, regressing back to its liquid form.
By this point, you have to wonder whether any of these pet owners have ever heard of air conditioning. Indeed, it should almost be a prerequisite of owning a cat, dog, or bunny, such is their tendency to start melting all over the place.
It’s clear which of these two bunnies is more cold-blooded, in both senses of the phrase. Indeed, that top one doesn’t seem to care one jot that his pal has melted into the sofa. He’s even using him as a comfy, fluffy footstool. Who knew rabbits were so savage?
Apparently, even hiding out in the shade isn’t enough to save a dog from melting into the grass. If we were this dog’s owner, though, we know we’d be straight over there with some cold water instead of hanging around taking photos. After all, how could anyone not want to go help those puppy dog eyes?
