Anna Kendrick may have kicked off her blockbuster movie career with an appearance in Twilight, but she seemingly doesn’t remember her time on the film. Or, more accurately, she doesn’t recall playing high schooler Jessica Stanley at all. And as a result, her fans were mystified by her apparent amnesia.

Twitter allows today’s celebrities direct contact with their fans. And thanks to the social media site, people with a blue tick by their names can say exactly what’s on their minds – without it being misconstrued by reporters. However, many stars also use the platform to display just how funny they really are.

One of the most hilarious celebs on social media is, without doubt, Ryan Reynolds. Whether he’s sharing his quirky take on parenting, trolling other stars or poking fun at himself, the Deadpool actor is almost guaranteed to get a giggle. But he’s not the only star to flex some comedic muscle online.

Another entertaining tweeter is model Chrissy Teigen. Her signature style tends to involve taking down the internet trolls who go out of their way to criticize her. In addition, she also often shares hilarious insights into her family and marriage to singer John Legend.

Actor Chris Pratt is, moreover, another star with the ability to cause amusement in just 280 characters. On Twitter, in fact, the thespian is renowned for his down-to-earth yet hilarious outlook on life. One of his most relatable tweets back in 2016, for instance, read, “Just spent three minutes reading about quantum physics on Wikipedia, and I still don’t get it.”

And also in the running for the title of Twitter’s Funniest Celeb is Anna Kendrick. Yep, aside from being an amazingly talented actor, the Pitch Perfect star has a killer sense of humor. It’s this particular side of her personality that has in fact helped the celebrity gain over seven million followers on Twitter.

Providing social media users a taste of the actor’s unique playfulness, Kendrick’s Twitter bio reads, “Pale, awkward and very, very small.” Cranking the hilarity factor up further, she then advises, “Form an orderly queue, gents.” And that’s just the start of her flair for giving others a good laugh.

With Kendrick’s self-deprecating style, she comes across as more of the girl-next-door than the world-famous movie star that she actually is in reality. From her tweets, she portrays herself as somewhat of a socially awkward, food-loving nerd. And we simply can’t get enough of them.

Over the years, Kendrick has turned her trademark wit to all manner of subjects, but one of her favorites is seemingly her own lack of motivation. For example, in 2015 the actress tweeted, “That thing where you haven’t shaved your legs in a bit so you decide to wait and get a wax, but then you don’t do that either.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, in 2016 Kendrick posted about finding “a Pop-Tart wrapper under [her] bed.” And later that day she offered an update when she added, “It’s been over 12 hours…. It’s still there… It would be so easy to get it… But so much easier not to. #GrownWoman.”

Another regular topic is Kendrick’s rather insatiable appetite. In 2015, for example, she turned to her Twitter following with what she believed was a “serious question.” She proceeded to ask, “How much are wedding cakes? And how weird would it be if I wanted to buy one just to eat? By myself?”

Food was also on Kendrick’s mind in 2016 when she took to Twitter with a proposition to followers of the opposite sex. “Hi, I’m Anna,” she wrote. “I’m alone tonight, and I’m looking for a strapping muscular man to come over because butternut squash is hard to dice.”

Given Kendrick’s fondness for food, then, it’s not surprising that under no circumstances is she willing to share. What’s more, it turns out that expecting to halve a dish with the actor is quite the deal-breaker. In 2015, in fact, the star revealed that the last words she’d heard from former friends were akin to, “I don’t want a whole dessert, let’s just get two spoons.”

In another tweet from 2015 Kendrick admitted that she could sometimes suffer from a lack of willpower when faced with the last bottle of alcohol in her home. She wrote, “That bottle of wine that you have in case of a ‘special occasion’ and how 7 p.m. starts to feel real ‘special’ when you got no other booze.”

Even when a Twitter user contacted Kendrick on the site to allege a famous gossip site had gotten hold of her “sex tape,” her go-to response contained humor. That’s right, making herself the butt of the joke, she replied, “God, finally. I’ve been submitting it to them for months.”

And while in the main Kendrick’s tweets tackle light-hearted subjects, the actress isn’t afraid to take on more serious issues with her signature satire, either. In 2016, for instance, the star shone a light on the disparity of the ages between leading male and female actors. She wrote, “Excited about all these up-and-coming leading men. (And their future on-screen wives, who could be born any day now!)”

With all this said, however, one of Kendrick’s latest tweets might just have been her most crazy to date. In November 2018 the actress took to her social media account to post, “Holy s***. I just remembered I was in Twilight.” And quite frankly, her fans went wild.

If, like Kendrick, you’ve somehow forgotten about the teen vampire saga, let us take you back to just over ten years ago. At that time, it seemed the world was gripped by Twilight fever after the first adaptation of Stephenie Meyers’ famous foursome of books finally hit cinema screens.

The Twilight series – just like the books it’s based on – tells the tale of Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart. The 17-year-old character moves to small-town Washington, where she finds herself somewhat of an outsider. She manages to make friends, but she finds herself strangely captivated by the Cullen siblings. But, more specifically, her eye is caught by Edward, as portrayed by Robert Pattinson.

Mind you, as the pair’s relationship develops, Swan discovers that Cullen is actually a vampire. And as a result, their blossoming love affair could potentially be fatal for her. The smitten teenager refuses to be deterred, however. So the remainder of the film – and the series – follows the young couple as they flit between the normal human world and a secretive supernatural society.

The movie made household names of Stewart and Pattinson, and its legion of fans began referring to themselves as “Twilighters.” Those more dedicated followers, however, preferred the term “Twihards.” Meanwhile, ladies of a more mature age who enjoyed the films were known as “Twi-Moms.”

As the story unfolds with each movie release, audiences can see Swan become embroiled in a love triangle. So, in addition to her vampire beau, the teenager also has a close friendship with werewolf Jacob Black. The fandom subsequently went crazy for the tangled romance. Yes, teens wearing “Team Jacob” and “Team Edward” T-shirts were a common sight, meaning that no one could truly escape the Twilight frenzy.

With all that in mind, it seemed almost unfeasible that anyone could forget about the vampire film franchise, let alone one of its stars. But here Kendrick was, admitting that she’d managed to erase all memory of her role in the movie from her mind. How could that even be possible?

To jog your memory, Kendrick starred as Jessica Stanley in Twilight. The character is one of Swan’s friends at her high school. To begin with, Stanley goes of her way to befriend the new girl. She later finds herself growing jealous of Swan, however, when Swan attracts the attention of Stanley’s crush, Mike Newton (Michael Welch).

Yet not only did Kendrick appear in the first Twilight movie, she also went on to star in sequels New Moon and Eclipse. And what’s more, her character has some pretty big moments throughout the movies. By the time she reaches the third instalment, in fact, Stanley really shines.

In Eclipse, you see, Stanley becomes the valedictorian of Forks High School. We therefore get to see the speech she makes for her class graduation. And if that isn’t enough, she is also present at Swan’s wedding to Cullen. So it’s not as if Kendrick’s is a little bit part.

In fact, Kendrick’s role is pretty significant in the Twilight movies, and it also gave the actress her first major taste of silver screen success. Even those of us with the most mundane careers can likely remember those jobs that really changed things for us. So it seemed ridiculous that the actor had supposedly forgotten her part in Twilight.

So, as a result, Kendrick’s tweet caused quite the stir online. Some of her fans jumped to reassure the actress that her performance in the movies had been far from forgettable. “We could never forget such an iconic performance,” one user tweeted. Meanwhile, another one added, “LOL! I loved your valedictorian speech.”

However, it soon emerged that Kendrick wasn’t the only person to forget about her part in the teen vampire drama. One commentator tweeted, “Honestly spooky because I’m watching Twilight for the first time in years and just said, ‘Oh, wow! I forgot Anna Kendrick was in Twilight,’ out loud to myself.”

And that user wasn’t the only one who needed their memories jogging about Kendrick’s Twilight-filled past. One person had even discovered the actress through the franchise only to omit the origin of her fandom from her thoughts. “HAHAHAHAHAHA! I started loving @AnnaKendrick47 because of Twilight, and I forgot, too, until I saw this tweet. OMG. I’m dying,” they wrote.

At least one other fan revealed that Kendrick’s forgetfulness had made them feel better about their own lapse of memory. Tweeting in response to the actor’s admission, they wrote, “I often forget that Anna Kendrick played Jessica in the Twilight films. Glad to know that she often forgets as well.”

It’s not the first time that Kendrick has admitted to putting her part in the Twilight saga to the back of her mind, though. Another time the actor came clean was when she was promoting her 2014 movie Into the Woods. When an interviewer said, “I forget you were in Twilight,” she replied, “I swear to God, I forget I’m in Twilight.”

Perhaps Kendrick’s Twilight-shaped blackout is excusable, though, given how busy she’s been since starring in the films. She had prepared for stardom early on too; the star had started out as an actor while still a child on the New York stage. And back then, her standout role was in the 1998 Broadway adaptation of High Society.

However, following the success of the Twilight movies, Kendrick appeared to concentrate her efforts on carving out a career in film. Just a year after she first appeared as Jessica Stanley in the vampire-themed franchise, in fact, she starred alongside superstar George Clooney in Up in the Air.

Kendrick’s performance as determined college graduate Natalie Keener earned her major critical acclaim too. And in addition to the glowing reviews, she also received Best Supporting Actress nominations at lots of major awards ceremonies. These included the Golden Globes, Oscars, BAFTAs and Screen Actors Guild.

The actor’s next major role was as Stacey Pilgrim, sister of Scott Pilgrim, in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. And while the film wasn’t a major box office success, it has certainly achieved a cult status over time. Kendrick also met director Edgar Wright on the set of the movie, and the pair dated until 2013.

But perhaps one of Kendrick’s most well-known roles to date is as lead character Beca Mitchell in the Pitch Perfect trilogy. The films follow the exploits of a college a cappella group known as the Barden Bellas. And they feature an all-star cast including Rebel Wilson, Skylar Astin and Adam DeVine.

Kendrick got to flex her vocal cords again when she appeared as Cinderella in the Disney adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical Into the Woods. Once more, she was joined by an impressive cast which included Meryl Streep, James Corden, Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp, to namedrop a few.

Despite Kendrick’s fame, though, she has continued to appear completely normal and relatable. In fact, she still buys her own economy tickets for flights. “Even if I had all the money in the world, it just seems wrong,” she revealed in an interview with British newspaper The Telegraph.

So maybe Kendrick admitting that she’d forgotten her part in Twilight was just another way of showing us that she’s only human. After all, lots of us are guilty of letting things slip from our memories. The only difference between the actor and us is that we can’t seem to turn our blank moments into Twitter comedy gold.
