The second-best invention in the history of theme parks has got to be the roller coaster. With its ups and downs, moments of laughter and glimpses of terror, it gives us a snapshot of the human condition. Which brings us to the best invention in the history of theme parks – the roller coaster camera – as these hilarious snaps prove.
Not everyone’s laughing, however. Perhaps this clown, for example, is so grumpy because for once it’s not him terrifying the living daylights out of children. There’s still plenty of time for that at night in their nightmares, though.

The kid in the orange T-shirt looks mildly terrified on this SeaWorld ride. But little does he know that the real horror will come when he picks up his photograph. Because now, he’ll probably spend the rest of his life traumatized and afraid to look over his shoulder.
Remember in the old cartoons when a character would suddenly realize they were in mid-air and stay there terrified for a moment before plummeting back down to earth? Well, this kid captures that look perfectly.
If one of your friends has a hygiene problem, the decent thing to do is find a way of diplomatically and discreetly letting them know. Or you could just do this.
There’s a time and a place for everything, and apparently a rollercoaster is an acceptable place for a marriage proposal. Fortunately, it wasn’t all downhill for the couple after this ride – she was completely oblivious to the whole thing until the photograph was developed, and when she saw it thankfully she said yes.
“Oh, hi boss. Um, no, I’m still not feeling too great so don’t think I’ll make it to work today either. Feel a bit dizzy and my tummy’s doing somersaults.”
Eh, what? Perhaps this family were so keen to get to the front of the line that they didn’t have time to complete their morning routines, and so had to beautify themselves on the Millennium Force rollercoaster at Cedar Point, Ohio instead. One thing’s for sure though, this ride could get messy – especially if the guy with the razor isn’t careful.
We all know that in the game of Monopoly, fortunes can plummet in an instant. These guys, though, are taking it all a bit too literally. Do not pass Goooooooooo…
Everybody’s different. Because while most people enjoy rollercoasters, some people find the whole experience to be utterly horrific, miserable and traumatizing. The problem is, of course, the only way to find out is to get on one.
This little fella clearly hasn’t reached the “look mom, no hands” stage yet. And whatever’s in front of him, he doesn’t like the look of it.
This thrill seeker has decided to literally get on his high horse and show off at Rainbow’s End theme park in New Zealand. And now, they’re the mane attraction (sorry).
As if this ride wasn’t horrifying enough, the girl sitting in the back seat of this coaster has to deal with these guys getting naked in front of her. In fact, her expression could be the new emoji for “Ew, gross!”
Fun fact: rollercoasters elicit pretty much exactly the same reaction in teenage boys as when they hear heavy metal for the first time. Rock!
This shot was taken at Madrid’s Warner Bros theme park. And so it’s rather fitting that these two are acting like they’re at the cinema watching a particularly engrossing movie.

This guy is either a deranged murderer or a committed but rather hammy thespian, practicing his lines whenever he has the opportunity. Either way, he shouldn’t be on a rollercoaster.
It’s extremely difficult to look cool or attractive while eating a hamburger. On a rollercoaster, though, it’s a whole different story. But hats off to this guy for achieving the impossible. In fact, he should make this his Linkedin profile pic.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and so it’s important not to let anything get in the way of it. And yes, thats even when you’re plunging down Disneyland’s Splash Mountain.
