20 Hysterically Awkward Photos Of Cats With Their Owners

Cats are the lazy person’s pet. Unlike dogs, they require pretty much no attention or walks: all they want to do is eat and sleep. In fact, they’re probably most people’s spirit animal in that regard. But there’s always someone who takes owning a cat too far. These 20 animal lovers are proof that no matter how much you might want to take a photo with your feline companion, they probably don’t want to be pictured with you. And considering how hilariously awkward the results are, who can blame them?

Nobody in this photo looks happy to be there. Not even the cats. Except the dad, that is. Indeed, through the veneer of his glasses and epic ‘tache, you can just about make out a thin smile creeping across his mouth, like some kind of evil, cat-cultivating megalomaniac. In fact, we don’t know who to feel more sorry for.

Just in case you were in any doubt that pet photoshoots are intrinsically awkward… This one particularly isn’t helped by the fact that two of the three cats look well and truly depressed at their current situation.

As if the ugly Christmas sweater and creepy smile didn’t make this photoshoot awkward enough – and a pet photoshoot is, by definition, pretty awkward anyway – the floating feline head in the top right certainly does the job. We’re pretty sure that cat’s now thoroughly traumatized.

The expression on this cat’s face is absolutely priceless. We’d love to know exactly what the cause of his abject terror is – whether it’s his owner’s awkwardly-placed hand, or just the simple realization that this is what his life has come to. Can’t he just go back to eating and sleeping?

Even ignoring the matching sweaters (and that’s not an easy thing to do), you’d have thought this couple might have chosen a better floating-head photo to superimpose on their loving family portrait. In fact, we’re pretty sure that cat couldn’t look any more terrified.

Didn’t anybody tell you? Cats and guns are a natural combination. Everyone knows that – especially this guy. Indeed, there’s no greater way to assure people of your sanity than posing with them for a photo. That glint in his eye? Yeah, don’t worry about that. We’re sure it’s nothing.

Perhaps this is some kind of new-wave art. Or maybe this guy just likes the feeling of the soft kittens against his bare torso. Actually, that’s an even creepier explanation. Either way, the puzzled expressions on the cats’ faces are simply hilarious.

There’s so much to decipher in this photo that we really don’t know where to start. But where the cat is concerned, we reckon it simply doesn’t know when the madness is going to stop. You can just about see the beginnings of a no-doubt fruitless attempt to escape – but that unfortunate feline is going nowhere.

Finally, a cat photo that makes them the star of the show, while their owner just peers in nonchalantly from the side. As if any pet photoshoot could ever carry a trace of nonchalance. Sorry, dude – no matter how cool you try to look, this is still hilariously awkward.

The expression on the left-most cat’s face pretty much sums this entire experience up. We’re not really sure why a rabbit appears to have been bundled in there, though. Maybe the owner just isn’t fussy when it comes to small, furry creatures?

There’s nothing manlier than a screaming miniature leopard. If nothing else, this diminutive cat probably makes the guy’s muscles look bigger by comparison. Which, we guess, is the point. There’s no other obvious explanation for the awkwardness on display here, anyway.

This furry feline looks as impressed by his owner as we all undoubtedly are. Which is to say, not at all. Who holds a cat like that? Those mutton chops certainly aren’t doing him any favors, either.

This guy looks immeasurably proud of his four feline friends. And who wouldn’t be? Well, the cats themselves, by the looks of it. The ginger one is slinking away, while the black one at the front looks ready to burst into tears – if cats could cry, that is.

Because nothing screams “professional, successful businessmen” like a terrified cat. We can only assume this is a dad and his sons, eager to show off the other most important member of their family. Their deadly-serious expressions aren’t really helping matters, though.

In a past life, it seems, Matthew McConaughey was a passionate animal handler. Either that, or his doppelgänger is just madly in love with cats. Unfortunately for him, their expressions paint a picture of an altogether one-sided relationship.

Not all musclebound men are emotionless drones, incapable of feeling. Indeed, some of them love getting in touch with their sensitive side. It’s just a shame that the cat doesn’t seem to reciprocate those sentiments.

Is this the most awkward cat photo of all time? We can almost understand having your cat in your wedding photos. It’s weird, sure, but it’s probably common in some circles. Dressing your cat up as your groom, though? That’s just taking the crazy-cat-lady label to the next level.

We’re sure these cats absolutely loved being taken on vacation. Because that’s what cats like – being taken away from their safe, warm, comfortable homes and forced to travel the country. You can even see it in their faces – just look how happy they are!

Stop the wild ride that is living with these crazed owners: this cat wants to get off. That they seem completely unfazed by its pleas for release suggests forcing their cat to pose for photos is a regular occurrence. Someone call PETA…

You know, there’s nothing like getting dressed up in your finest clothes for a photoshoot with your cats. In fact, we’re surprised that more people don’t do it. There’s clearly nothing awkward about the whole situation at all…
