Losing a close loved one can have a devastating effect on a person. Widower Chelsea can certainly attest to that, as her husband sadly passed away in May 2011, leaving behind his wife and their two-year-old son. However, some months after that, a group of strangers sneaked into her home and left it transformed.
Residents of Whitehouse, Ohio, Chelsea and her husband Eric were parents to a young son named Cason. Chelsea was also blessed with two close friends named Tiffany and Jackie. Unfortunately, though, her life changed forever after Eric visited a hospital in March 2011.
Some eight years prior to that, in March 2003 radio host Jeff Januszek started a new program with his partner Tim Timmerman called “Tim and Jeff In The Morning.” Based at the time in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the pair’s show proved incredibly popular with locals, which subsequently brought them to the attention of other radio stations.
As a result, in March 2007 the duo made the switch to Kiss 107, a station located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Their new morning show was titled “Tim & My Mom Calls Me George.” As with their previous work in Fayetteville, Tim and Jeff’s output was a big hit with local listeners, entertaining them for more than four years.
In April 2011 they moved radio stations once again, this time joining Star 105.5 in Toledo, Ohio. Their show’s title reverted back to “Tim and Jeff In The Morning,” and the pair continued to keep listeners entertained with their unique brand of humor. Moreover, there was another side to Tim and Jeff’s work.
During their time in Fayetteville, the duo kick-started an event named the “Canned Food Campout,” which quickly became an annual tradition. The social gathering was designed to help those in need, offering food to the hungry. With that in mind, Tim and Jeff received an email towards the end of 2011 from two people looking out for a heartbroken friend.
The message was written by Tiffany and Jackie, explaining what had happened to Chelsea earlier that year. Following his hospital appointment in March, Eric had been diagnosed with melanoma. Two months later, he sadly passed away, leaving behind his devastated wife and two-year-old Cason. With Christmas fast approaching, Chelsea’s friends had a request for Tim and Jeff.
Prior to his passing, Eric had been in charge of decorating the house ahead of the holiday season. As this was to be Chelsea and Cason’s first Christmas without him, Tiffany and Jackie asked the radio hosts if they could keep his tradition going. With that in mind, Tim and Jeff accepted the heartfelt request.
Ahead of the surprise, Jackie treated Chelsea and Cason to a day of shopping, opening the door for Tim and Jeff to start working on the house. With a camera crew by their side filming the events, the duo enlisted plenty of help to transform Chelsea’s home for the holidays.
Thanks to the additional assistance, hundreds of LED lights were hung outside the house, lining the roof and windows. As well as that, parts of the front-yard were also decked with lights, including a tree to the side of the property. However, Tim and Jeff’s hard work didn’t end there.
Inside the house, a Christmas tree was put up and decorated, while stockings were hung on the fireplace. With the decorations in place, the duo then brought along another surprise in the form of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, adding to the festive spirit. As their hard work came to a close, Tim and Jeff then awaited the return of Chelsea and her son.
With the camera crew now stationed on the opposite side of the street, Jackie’s car pulled into the driveway. As she left the vehicle, Chelsea’s house suddenly lit up, leaving the mother looking completely stunned. While she took the moment in with her friend, Tim and Jeff’s crew made their presence known, quickly crossing the road.
“What did you do?” a tearful Chelsea asks Jackie while sharing a warm hug. A few moments later, Jeff appears with the email that kick-started it all. “Our friend’s name is Chelsea,” he reads. “Her husband went to the hospital in March of this year with chest pains, [only] to find out after several tests that his melanoma was back.”
“Less than two months later, he lost his battle with cancer,” Jeff continues. “He left behind his beautiful two-year-old son, Cason, and the love of his life, Chelsea. We’re not asking for money or gifts, but something to lift her holiday spirit, since this is Cason’s first Christmas without dad.”
With an emotional Chelsea by his side, Jeff finishes reading, “We were thinking of some ideas, and we thought [about] decorating the outside of her house with tons of Christmas lights. And maybe a visit from Santa would be great!” On cue, Mr. Claus then makes his presence known among the crowd of people on the driveway.
Following that, Jeff offers some warm words of support to Chelsea, noting the number of individuals who are there for her and Cason. “You have great friends, and you got a lot of people here who love you,” he tells her. “Merry Christmas. Go hug some people!”
As she puts her shoes back on to do just that, the video comes to a close with a lengthy list of names, all thanked for their considerable efforts over the course of the day. Tim and Jeff uploaded the footage to their YouTube channel on December 16, 2011. Titled “Holiday Help – Chelsea’s Christmas light surprise,” the video has since earned thousands of views.
Following their heartwarming efforts in Whitehouse, Tim and Jeff continued their work at Star 105.5 until March 2012, when they made yet another switch. However, this time they went back to Fayetteville, returning to their original radio station Power 105.7. And for the next two years, the pair’s morning show entertained audiences there once again.
However, in April 2014, Tim and Jeff brought their successful partnership to an end. The former eventually joined another radio show in Cincinnati in September 2015, named the “Jeff & Jenn Morning Show.” As for the latter, he founded his own company in June 2014, naming it “Jeff Januszek Social Media” and basing himself in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Losing a close loved one can have a devastating effect on a person. For Whitehouse native Chelsea, though, her first Christmas since the tragic passing of her husband was made a lot easier thanks to an unexpected visit from two radio hosts. Of all their work together as a duo, this might’ve been Tim and Jeff’s crowning moment.
