In a garage in a town near Melbourne, in Victoria, Australia, a man is beavering away. His name is Jeff David, and for seven years he has been working on the Quantum GP700. But this isn’t just any kit car – no, David has been building the first “hypercar” ever made in Australia, and the outcome is astonishing.
Jeff teamed up with son Andrew to create the Quantum Performance Vehicles company, which will build and market their car. Even though he developed his car in his shed in Gisborne, the mechanic is far from a novice in the car world, having worked on both a device which communicates engine data to remote computers, and a self-tuning engine management system. His son has a more mechanical bent, strong in mechanical dynamic systems and thermodynamics.
