After This Dog Started Acting Strangely, She Led Her Owner To A Truly Heartbreaking Find

Kyle Frisk was pretty confused when his dog Peanut began barking incessantly to get out of the house. Given that she was ordinarily quiet, he figured that something was wrong. Still, Kyle let his pet out anyway. When he did, however, she led him to the most disturbing find.

By the time she was two years old, Peanut had already come to know the darker side of human nature. In 2016 the poor pup had wound up at Delta Animal Shelter in Escanaba, Michigan, in the most harrowing of states.

At that time, the helpless animal had suffered breaks to several ribs and two legs; she also had a stomach full of carpet. But with her former owner having been reprimanded for animal abuse, the mixed-breed’s life was finally starting to look up.

And at the no-kill pound, Peanut was finally handed some hope, as staff at Delta Animal Shelter helped to find the pooch a new home. Before long, in fact, the dog had found her forever family in the form of Kyle and Kathryn Frisk, who were both more than happy to give her a second shot at life.

It seems that it didn’t take long for Peanut to settle into her new home, either. Then, nearly a year after the dog’s adoption, Kathryn contacted Delta Animal Shelter to let staff there know exactly how their precious pooch was getting on.

In the message, which was added to the Delta Animal Shelter Facebook page in March 2017, Kathryn wrote, “[Peanut] has truly been a blessing to our family, and we love having her around.” She added, “[Peanut’s] background was so heartbreaking, and we are so happy that we were able to take her into our home and give her the love and the family she deserves.”

However, it seemed that a simple update on Peanut was not the real reason behind Kathryn’s correspondence. Instead, she wanted to reveal the details of some of the dog’s unusual behavior – behavior which in turn had led her owner Kyle to a heartbreaking find.

In her message, Kathryn explained how the dog had begun to act strangely during one morning in 2017. “Peanut started going crazy at our house. She was running up and down the stairs, barking and yelping,” she wrote.

According to Kathryn, Peanut had even run up to Kyle at one point – as if to alert him to something. From the dog’s persistence, he could tell that she wanted to be outside. And while Kyle didn’t quite understand his pet’s urgency, he let her out anyway.

Then, once she was free, Peanut darted off like a shot. “She went barreling into the field behind our house at full speed,” the message explained. So, naturally, Kyle went after her. But perhaps nothing could have prepared him for what he was about to find.

When Kyle had caught up with Peanut, he had reportedly found her standing over a ditch, at the bottom of which was a trembling and naked child. The three-year-old girl was apparently rolled into a ball, and there was no telling how long she’d been there all alone.

So, Kathryn related, Kyle therefore jumped into the ditch and scooped the little girl up in his arms. And after bundling the child up in a sweatshirt in a desperate bid to keep her warm, he then ran with her back to his house – with Peanut not far behind.

Once the trio had arrived at the Frisks’ home, Kyle subsequently called 911 to explain who he had found. And, before long, both cops and paramedics arrived at the scene to assist the little girl further. After the emergency services had made their way to the scene, though, the only word the child was apparently able to speak was “doggie.”

Then, with the little girl in the safe hands of the authorities, Kathryn got to thinking about what had happened. Given the dog’s strange mood before finding the child, she believed that Peanut had “some ‘sixth sense’ about her past life that she [had] carried with her.”

And in her message, the proud dog owner wrote, “Thanks to Peanut, a little girl’s life was saved today. She has been such a blessing to us and now to others. Words cannot express how grateful we are that we have Peanut in our lives and how amazing she is.”

After the discovery of the child, Delta County Sheriff’s Office ultimately released a statement on the incident. In the update, a spokesperson revealed Peanut’s good work to the public; they also provided news on the little girl’s condition.

The statement, which appeared on the Delta County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page in 2017, read, “The uninjured girl was transported to St Francis Hospital by UP Health Systems. Deputies went door to door in an attempt to locate the parents.”

The message went on to confirm that cops had tracked the girl’s parents down. The adults were apparently living in “unsafe and unsanitary” conditions; and consequently, officers had removed the three-year-old and another female minor from the home.

In addition, the sheriff’s office confirmed that it had referred the case to the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office, where it would be reviewed. In the meantime, Peanut’s family and the staff at Delta Animal Shelter were just happy that the children concerned were safe.

And for that, in part, they had Peanut to thank. Kathryn was aware of that, too, as in her message to Delta Animal Shelter, she wrote, “[Peanut] is a part of our family now, and thanks to wonderful people like you at the shelter, she is alive. Without her, not only would she have been gone from this world, but the life of this little girl might [also] have been taken as well.”
