When Bree Hafen auditioned for a dance show, she performed beautifully. But the audience went really wild when Hafen’s two-year-old daughter climbed onto the stage and performed her very own routine for the crowd. And soon the video had gone viral.
Bree Hafen is the mom of an adorable five-year-old boy named Luke and a two-year-old called Stella. The whole family live in Texas, and it was when they all travelled to an audition in the city of Dallas in 2012 that they really made a name for themselves.
Hafen was a keen dancer, and so she entered the TV talent competition So You Think You Can Dance. The show was already into its ninth season by the time Hafen appeared on it, but her performance was still totally unique.
Hafen had been meaning to audition on the show for a while, in fact, but she had found that other things had gotten in the way. She told the judges how she’d been pregnant or busy caring or her two kids, which had prevented her from auditioning.
And when Hafen’s time finally came, she certainly didn’t disappoint. She took to the stage wearing cycling shorts and a crop top, ready to impress the judges. But before Hafen danced, the panel wanted to meet her adorable children first.
As a result, Luke and Stella were brought up to the judges’ panel and invited to sit on Nigel Lythgoe’s chair to watch their mom’s performance. Adorable little Luke shouted out, “I love you,” just as his mom was about to begin her dance routine.
By this point, Hafen’s kids had nearly stolen the show already. Nonetheless, she soon began her performance – and it blew the judges away. She moved elegantly around the stage, performing a contemporary routine featuring various impressive leaps and contortions.
During Hafen’s performance, Lythgoe handed something to Luke and told him to take it to his mom on stage. The young boy obeyed and walked up to the edge of the platform while holding out a piece of paper for his mom. It was a ticket to the next stage in Los Angeles.
Hafen was delighted and hugged her son tight in front of a jam-packed auditorium. It was such an adorable scene that fellow dance judge Mary Murphy was reduced to tears by it all. And things were about to become a whole lot cuter.
Little Stella was next to come up onto the stage to congratulate her mom for making it through to the next round of the competition. Wearing a cute pink princess dress and a matching bow in her hair, she toddled up to meet her mom.
While Hafen received compliments from the judges, she told them that her daughter was saying something adorable. Two-year-old Stella was in fact announcing that it was “my turn.” And it turned out that the judges were totally onboard with her demands.
Given that her mom was safely through to the next round in Las Vegas, Lythgoe told Hafen to put Stella down so that she could have a chance at performing. “Put some nice ballet music on,” he told the producers.
As the classical music began playing, little Stella elegantly lifted up one leg in a perfect ballet move. What followed next was an utterly adorable routine complete with jumps and spins. At one point, she even performed an advanced move lying down on the stage.
Stella sat down on the stage facing away from the audience and struck a pose that sent the audience wild. She leaned her head back and the auditorium erupted into applause and laughter. The toddler had totally stolen the show.
Looking at the audience and the judges’ reaction, it was clear that Stella had melted people’s hearts with her incredible dance routine. Indeed, considering that she was still only a toddler, she knew some pretty advanced ballet moves.
And people online couldn’t get enough of Stella’s routine, either. The video racked up nearly seven million views on YouTube, in fact, and the comments section was filled with praise for the young girl. “That little kid made my heart melt! She is gonna be just as good as her mom!” wrote one admirer.
“The little girl is the cutest thing I’ve seen in my life. Cuteness overload,” commented another viewer who’d enjoyed Stella’s routine. “That was literally the cutest thing I have flipping ever seen,” another impressed YouTube user concurred.
Of course, people were also impressed with Hafen’s performance, too. Someone commented that it was “amazing to dance like this after being a mom of two.” Nonetheless, there’s no doubt that little Stella stole the show for many viewers.
These days, Hafen spends most of her time dancing. She teaches and choreographs routines and still counts dancing as one of her biggest passions in life. Not only that, but she also acts as a judge from time to time.
Moreover, since Hafen’s appearance on So You Think You Can Dance, she has had two more beautiful children. While it seemed clear from the tender age of two that Stella was going to grow up to be a dance sensation, Hafen might now have a whole troupe on her hands.
