This Newlywed’s Husband Couldn‘t Make Their Honeymoon. So She Went and Did This Without Him…

Newlyweds Huma Mobin and Arsalaan Sever Butt are by no means new to traveling. Indeed, the couple are keen globe-trotters and love to explore the world together. But on their honeymoon, Mobin went solo, and the results were hilarious.

Mobin, a creative manager at an ad agency, and her architect husband Butt are based in Lahore, Pakistan. The young couple tied the knot in January 2016, but it wasn’t until July that they were able to enjoy a proper honeymoon. Or, at least, so they thought.

Without any knowledge of future events, though, the couple planned to usher in their lives together with a honeymoon trip to Europe. And, before long, everything was in place for a trip to Greece…

Everything, that is, except for Butt’s visa. Indeed, Butt didn’t receive the visa in time to leave country, so, sadly, he couldn’t travel abroad with his wife.

For her part, Mobin was adamant that there would be no honeymoon if her husband couldn’t be by her side. But after considering how much money they’d already spent on it, she soon changed her mind. And it’s fair to say that most married couples simply won’t believe who she decided to take with her in place of Butt.

Yes, somewhat unbelievably, Mobin took the trip with his mom and dad. Fortunately, this time the family made it to Greece. Mobin hadn’t, however, quite got over the weird circumstances of the honeymoon.

After all, it must have been pretty overwhelming – but Mobin was determined to enjoy her travels. “I cried the first night on my mother-in-law’s shoulder, but she told me to make the best of it,” Mobin said in an interview with BuzzFeed.

And that’s exactly what she did. In fact, Mobin decided to stick exactly to the itinerary that she’d planned with her husband. Without him there, though, she documented the trip by pretending to hug and pose with the absent Butt in every picture.

In her very own Greek tragedy, Mobin poses for photos with her bottom lip poking out – a classic comedic sulking expression. The locations are as beautiful as they are varied, with the photos featuring the likes of whitewashed villages and shimmering swimming pools.

Indeed, Mobin is in all the classic shots, from Greece’s most famous ancient monuments to harbors crammed with fishing boats. And all the while she’s pretending her beloved husband is enjoying the sights with her.

You’ve got to hand it to her – she definitely seemed to make the best of a bad situation, and she covered a lot of ground too. But, as you make your way through her holiday snaps, you might notice a new pose enter the frame.

That’s because on one of Mobin’s many excursions she dropped her phone into the sea, which, let’s face it, is a modern-day nightmare. After the incident, then, her poignant shots show her clasping the empty space left by her missing husband and her missing phone.

It’s such a great idea, and the results are brilliant. But where did the inspiration for this classic stunt come from? Well, that’s the really cool part.

“Strangely enough, I got the idea from my husband,” said Mobin. “After our engagement, he left for Budapest and sent me [a similar] picture.” What a great couple; two peas in a pod.

So, after her return to Pakistan, Mobin put all of her holiday snaps into an album on Facebook. Since then, the album has become something of an internet sensation.

Indeed, Mobin’s Facebook album, called “The Husband-less Honeymoon,” was quickly picked up by the media. What’s more, BuzzFeed India’s piece on the pictures has attracted more than one million views.

But it didn’t stop there. In fact, the couple’s story was picked up by media outlets all over the world, and Mobin’s Facebook page is now awash with comments praising her sense of humor. “Very witty and clever. Love it!” wrote one user.

Inevitably, the Photoshop whizz kids have been all over the story too. Consequently, Mobin has been turned into the Statue of Liberty, put in a wrestling ring and partnered with a ton of substitute husbands.

Fortunately, it looks like Mobin loved the reaction. “Thank you to all of you who keep tagging me and sending me these posts!” she wrote on her Facebook page.

Incidentally, this is not the only time that the happy couple has posed for a quirky picture. Indeed, on the way back from their wedding ceremony, Mobin couldn’t help but stop in on a sale at Mango, and there’s photographic evidence to prove it.
