When This Computer Engineer Bride Realized She Had No Girlfriends, She Asked Her Bros Along Instead

It was time for this bride to get ready for her big day. And her unconventional group of best friends were there to help her every step of the way. But when the photographer started snapping away, he couldn’t keep a straight face…

Rebeca Abrantes is a 24-year-old from Brazil. At college she enroled in a computer engineering course and soon found that most of her fellow students were male. In fact, in her class of 60, Rebeca was one of only four women.

Aside from her studies, Abrantes had a boyfriend who had recently proposed to her. And so, like any excited bride-to-be, she got started planning their special day. But as the wedding approached, there was something Abrantes simply couldn’t get off her mind.

She wasn’t stressed about the flowers, the food, the playlist, or anything that usually stresses brides out in the run-up to their big day. Instead, Abrantes was actually more concerned about the photographs.

But it wasn’t that she’d developed a huge pimple on her face or was self-conscious about her appearance. No, Abrantes was concerned that there would be something important missing from her bridal shoot.

Abrantes had always imagined herself having a glamorous photoshoot as she got ready for her big day. But these kinds of images usually depicted the bride surrounded by all her closest girlfriends.

The problem was that Abrantes didn’t have many girlfriends. Enrolling in a male-heavy course meant that she had made a lot of guy friends, but very few female ones. And so she thought she might have to abandon the whole photoshoot idea altogether.

In the end, however, Abrantes decided to go through with the photos with the friends she had. Surely it didn’t matter that they were male? In fact, when the group got together they decided to have some fun with it. And the resulting photographs are truly hilarious.

Abrantes and five of her closest guy friends donned silk dressing gowns for the occasion and got stuck into all the usual bridesmaid activities. And it’s not surprising that the set of images went totally viral.

The group are seen diligently tending to the bride and her outfit ahead of her special day. As one helps her into her high heels, another looks delighted to be given the privilege of placing a tiara on her head. But most of the images demonstrate a slightly different take on the usual bridal party photoshoot. Because while you normally see groups of women in dressing gowns sipping elegantly on champagne, this isn’t quite the case with Abrantes’ photos.

Instead, Abrantes is seen sitting around with her bros drinking spirits from red cups. It’s the kind of tableware normally seen at frat parties, not bridal photoshoots. And that’s not where the fun stopped either, because the bridal group creatively acted out some other scenarios too.

One of the best photos depicts Abrantes carefully applying lipgloss with her hair in rollers. But her friends aren’t applying their own makeup. No, they’re shaving their beards instead.

Leading on from that ridiculous image is another, even more hilarious photograph. All six of the group are seen perched on the edge of one single bed, each with a razor in hand, shaving their legs!

Some brides like to treat themselves to a facial ahead of their wedding day, and Abrantes was no different. She was photographed with slices of cucumber resting on her eyes, but not without her trusty bros copying her.

After these quirky photos went viral online Abrantes took to social media to clear up a few things. She admitted that she did actually have some girlfriends after all, but they were just all quite far away from her on her big day.

Abrantes told Bored Panda that she only came up with the idea one week before the big day, having been inspired by conventional bridal party shoots. “I got a bit sad because I wouldn’t be able to do anything like that,” she said.

But instead of moping about, Abrantes got her creative juices flowing and conceptualized the best bridal photoshoot the Internet has ever seen. “The photoshoot was super fun,” she said.

In fact, she admitted that at times it was even a little too much fun. “Everyone was taking shots of cheap booze and sometimes we were laughing so much that we had to take some time to recover and go on with the photos.”

And so although the bride didn’t get the girly photoshoot she had dreamed of, a lot of people would agree that her genius alternative idea was actually loads better. It’s just lucky that her best guy friends weren’t at all camera shy!
