20 Big-Name Stars Chilling With Their Younger Selves

Let’s face it, we’ve all wanted to talk to our younger selves at some point. Whether it’s warning yourself to steer clear from questionable relationship choices or pointing out a once in a lifetime opportunity, the possibilities are endless. But if they had the chance, what would celebrities say to their less experienced former selves?

Perhaps in Julia Roberts’ case, she’d tell the 22-year-old her to straighten out her curls and work on her winning smile. Alas, this image isn’t evidence of time travel, but a clever use of Photoshop that posits the Pretty Woman star beside her younger self. And this isn’t the only example, either – the following 19 snaps all offer a glimpse of celebs casually chilling with their past selves.

19. Victoria Beckham

We can’t help but smile after seeing 23-year-old Victoria Beckham’s goofy grin in this photo – maybe her 38-year old self has revealed that she’ll end up marrying soccer superstar David Beckham? Unfortunately, though, it seems Posh Spice left her smile back in her twenties.

18. Leonardo DiCaprio

While we love the mature image Leonardo DiCaprio currently rocks, his younger teen idol self reminds us why we fell in love with him in the first place. And you never know, perhaps his older version is secretly slipping Martin Scorsese’s phone number into his pocket.

17. Patrick Stewart

Talk about growing old gracefully – the 72-year-old Patrick Stewart is almost identical to his 57-year-old self on the right. Or is that the left? No, it’s the right. No, sorry, he’s on the… okay, now we’re confused.

16. Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet may be one of the world’s most beautiful women, but she’s had to work hard for her looks. Indeed, her 25-year-old self is the very definition of awkward, and her goofy smile and weird hand gestures don’t exactly scream “gracious.”

15. Geri Halliwell

Just like her Spice Girls band mate Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell looks delighted to be in the presence of her former self. But, strangely, it’s the younger version who is unimpressed – 25-year-old Geri looks to have no time for her 39-year-old self’s shenanigans.

14. Daniel Radcliffe

By his own account, Daniel Radcliffe was something of a naughty boy in his youth. So perhaps that explains the look of sheer dread on the 23-year-old actor’s face when forced to pose with his rambunctious 12-year-old self.

13. Helen Mirren

Helen Mirren is possibly Hollywood’s hottest silver fox (vixen?), and this photo shows that the actress has always had sizzling good looks. In fact, despite these photos being taken 45 years apart, Mirren has lost none of the beauty that helped make her a star.

12. Meryl Streep

Before she was the Oscar-stealing sensation she is today, Meryl Streep was just a budding actress riding the subway to her next audition. Indeed, elder Streep must be telling her 1980 version great things – not least that she’ll never need public transport again.

11. Jennifer Lawrence

While people usually get more mature with age, Jennifer Lawrence has thankfully stayed just as goofy in adult life. In fact, she may even have grown a little more childish – as this ’shop of her rubbing more than just shoulders with her younger self clearly indicates.

10. Cindy Crawford

Owing to the ’80s propensity for ridiculous fashion statements, very few celebs escaped the decade unharmed. And so while today’s Cindy Crawford is looking glamorous today, her 1989 counterpart is admittedly less so thanks to her garish PVC trench coat and hair that was seemingly shaped in a wind tunnel.

9. Christian Bale

This image may look like a father hanging out with his son, but it’s actually two pictures of Christian Bale taken 25 years apart. And while the adult Bale certainly looks intimidating, it’s hard to picture the kid on the right growing up to be the Caped Crusader.

8. Drew Barrymore

We’ve all had our fair share of awkward moments with clingy friends who are little too happy to see you. But in Drew Barrymore’s case, that friend happens to be her younger self. Just grin and bear it, Drew – it’ll be over soon.

7. Christina Aguilera

Back when Christina Aguilera was writing songs about being “Dirrty,” the singer was often seen in racy numbers like this. These days, however, Aguilera has toned it down considerably and looks absolutely elegant in this stylish black dress on the left.

6. Meg Ryan

Formerly America’s sweetheart, Meg Ryan gained considerable attention thanks to her girl-next-door looks and cute dress sense. In contrast, today’s Ryan has ditched the frivolously fashionable image for something more formal, but she remains as attractive now as she did 25 years ago.

5. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus shocked everyone when she went from Disney’s Hannah Montana to the tongue-wagging provocateur behind hits like “Wrecking Ball.” And images like this remind us just how much the singer has grown up – as well as how far she’s strayed from her family-friendly roots.

4. Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is adept at playing fatherly figures, and this Photoshop creation shows that he’s always been older than his years. Featuring shots from 1980 and 2014, the 24-year-old Hanks looks just as mature as his present-day counterpart. Thankfully, though, he decided to ditch the perm.

3. Michelle Pfeiffer

Many people tend to dress more conservatively with age, but today’s Michelle Pfeiffer is definitely beating her younger self in the style stakes. In fact, 1986 Pfeiffer is clearly jealous of the colorful outfit her future self is wearing.

2. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston has been pretty candid about her use of cosmetic surgery in the past, and images like these show the extent to which the star has changed. While not as bad as Rachel Green’s before pictures on Friends, Aniston’s features show some obvious differences in these 1990 and 2013 snaps.

1. Matthew McConaughey

It’s hard to believe that the dude dangerously close to a shirt pop on the right would ever turn into one of this decade’s most valued stars. Nevertheless, while Matthew McConaughey has transcended his laid-back mid-’90s persona, his present day smirk suggests that his fun-seeking attitude hasn’t totally gone.
