Matt Damon knows just how down and dirty baseball talk can get. Appearing on The Ringer podcast with Bill Simmons in November 2019 he shared a funny story about the 2008 NBA finals, when Damon’s beloved Boston Celtics squared off against the L. A. Lakers. And when the Celtics staged a great comeback, Damon and buddy Mark Wahlberg got into it with legends of the NBA.
Cambridge, Massachusetts native Damon broke through as an actor in the late 1990s, and by 2008 he was one of the world’s biggest stars. He’d led in both the Ocean’s trilogy and the Bourne films, and alongside fellow Bostonian Wahlberg, he’d enjoyed critical and box-office success in Scorsese’s The Departed.
