After Piers Morgan Threw Shade At Ariana Grande, She Took To Twitter To Deliver A Perfect Clapback

Piers Morgan is known for being controversial – and often gets candid on social media. But when the journalist hit out at Ariana Grande, it didn’t take long for her to fire back. And the pop star had the perfect comeback that left fans in awe.

Morgan was born in Sussex, U.K., on March 30, 1965. After studying journalism, he got his start working for tabloid newspapers on London’s Fleet Street. Then, at just 29 years old, he was made the editor of the News of the World in 1994.

However just one year later, Morgan left the newspaper following the publication of some controversial photos. By printing the snaps taken of Charles, Earl Spencer’s wife, Catherine Victoria Lockwood, leaving an addiction facility, he had breached the Editors’ Code Of Practice. He then went on to helm the Daily Mirror. But less than a decade later, the journalist was fired.

Morgan was let go from the paper after publishing more controversial photos. This time, though, they purported to show British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners of war. However, the images were revealed to have been faked as part of a hoax. He also came under fire during the 2011 phone-hacking scandal that investigated the alleged tapping and hacking of phones by journalists to obtain stories.

Today, Morgan continues to work as a journalist and is also an editor for the Daily Mail website. In addition, he has built a successful career in television. The 53-year-old has served as a judge on both Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent.

Outside of talent shows, Morgan interviews celebrities for his TV series, Piers Morgan’s Life Stories. He is also one of the presenters of Good Morning Britain. And the journalist is notorious for stirring up controversies both on-air and online.

Over the years, Morgan has had feuds with celebrities such as Hugh Grant, who he called a “tedious little man.” He also branded Ewan McGregor a “pedophile-loving hypocrite” for previously supporting director Roman Polanski. Their rift began when the actor pulled out of appearing on Morgan’s morning show because of his criticism over the Women’s March on Washington in 2017.

Some argue that Morgan prides himself on being contentious. So when the band Little Mix posed for a provocative photo shoot, he wasted no time in criticizing them. And before long, it had escalated into a full-blown feud with Ariana Grande.

Little Mix are a British pop band who won U.K. TV talent competition The X Factor in 2011. The all-female group is made up of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall. For the video to their song “Strip,” the singers posed nude with cruel taunts written across their bodies.

On November 19, 2018, Morgan had slammed Ellen DeGeneres for sharing images of hunky men on her television show. “Ellen drooling today over famous men’s bodies on #InternationalMensDay2018. Yet I’ve been abused all day for complimenting @hollywills on her legs. The hypocrisy of modern feminism laid bare,” he wrote on Twitter.

And the following day, Morgan laid into Little Mix, claiming they had copied an Entertainment Weekly magazine cover starring the Dixie Chicks. “Hey @LittleMix – when are you going to admit you stole this idea from @dixiechicks?” he tweeted. The journalist also added that Nelson “looks ridiculous” and should “put some clothes on (if she has any).”

That’s when Grande’s mother came to the defense of Little Mix, who opened for the pop star on her 2017 Dangerous Woman Tour. “Honestly, what is wrong with you @piersmorgan? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it!” Joan Grande wrote.

Grande’s mother continued, “You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And… Well, never mind.” It didn’t take Morgan long to respond – and this time, he hit out at Joan’s daughter.

“Hi Joan, my mother taught me to speak my mind and never be afraid to express honestly held opinion,” Morgan responded. “Ellen’s a hypocrite – and as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does!” Grande herself soon fired back with a scathing tweet aimed at Morgan.

“Ellen is an incredible and kind human being,” Grande shared. “I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because I choose to. Women can be sexual AND talented. Naked and dignified. It’s OUR choice. And we will keep fighting until people understand. I say this with all due respect but thank u, next.”

After that, Grande delivered another searing clapback to Morgan. “Also @piersmorgan, I look forward to the day you realize there are other ways to go about making yourself relevant than to criticize young, beautiful, successful women for everything they do,” she added. “I think that’ll be a beautiful thing for you and your career or what’s left of it.”

Fans applauded Grande for her response and shared their support on social media. “Thank you for this public service. [Morgan] has made a nuisance of himself on two continents,” one person wrote. Others professed their love for the singer and stated that her comments against the journalist were “well-deserved.”

However, Morgan appeared unfazed by Grande’s words. He told the singer that his career is “doing just fine, thanks,” and invited her on Good Morning Britain to continue the debate – an invitation that the 25-year-old has not responded to. But now, the journalist is waging a war against another star.

On November 30, Morgan slammed Emily Ratajkowski. Sharing a photo of the actress and model in a coat to social media, he wrote, “BREAKING NEWS: Emily Ratajkowski caught wearing clothes.” But while Grande’s comments may have left little impact on the former newspaper editor, it seems the pop star is getting the last laugh.

That same day, the video for Grande’s song “Thank U, Next” came out. In just one day, it had been watched millions of times and has broken records as YouTube’s most-viewed music video within 24-hours of dropping. “I’m kind of still waking up, so I feel like I may be dreaming all of this,” Grande shared to her fans on Twitter. “I’m scared to acknowledge it or say anything yet. But man, this is wild. Thank you so much.”
