These Unusually Named Models Just Had A Baby, And What They Chose To Call Her Is Even More Bizarre

Style sensations Lucky Blue Smith and Stormi Bree Henley must have known the moment they met that they’d make one devastatingly good-looking child. And now, after Instagramming the pregnancy, they’ve welcomed a baby into the world. Their little girl is probably going to want for nothing, as both her parents are rich and famous models. But, in accordance with family tradition, she does have a highly unusual name…

The magnificently monikered Lucky Blue comes from a whole family of unusually named models. His sisters are called Daisy Clementine, Pyper America and Starlie Cheyenne. Despite their unique appellations, though, it’s doubtful that anyone made fun of them when they were growing up. All of the Smiths are devastatingly good-looking and were scouted to be models at a young age.

The company Next Models noticed Lucky Blue’s older sister Daisy Clementine first, but, before long, they had signed up the entire family. Lucky Blue’s striking looks, reminiscent of a younger Brad Pitt, simply couldn’t go unnoticed. “We don’t typically represent kids,” Smith’s agent Mimi Yapor told The Guardian in 2015. “But you know a star when you see one.”

Before Lucky Blue was even a teenager, he was a star. And soon he was appearing in adult modeling campaigns for companies like Vogue Hommes Japan and Levi’s. And it just went on and on from there. The whole Smith family moved to L.A, the global hub of the entertainment elite, and settled down in a two-bedroom apartment.

A significant portion of Lucky Blue’s success comes from his ability to use Instagram to its full potential. This is the age of the Instagram model, after all, and if you don’t have a huge following on the social media platform, then you might as well not even try. In 2017 Lucky Blue Smith had 3.2m followers, which, while not at the level of megastars like Kendall Jenner, is still pretty incredible.

However, one trick that Lucky Blue Smith used to boost his profile was to arrange Instagram meet-ups. He would post about where he would be on a particular day, and fans would show up in droves to meet him. Such was the power of Lucky Blue that the meet-ups gradually got bigger and bigger, seeing minor stampedes and anxiety attacks from members of the crowd.

As Lucky Blue’s star grew, some commented on his unique name. “Lucky Blue… is not a racehorse, as his name might suggest,” wrote The Cut in 2015. But having a strange name was absolutely no barrier to fame and fortune for him. Whenever Lucky Blue was seen out and about doing his modeling jobs, girls would call out “Lucky!” as they tried to get photos of him.

However, the girls who dreamed of him being their boyfriend would ultimately end up disappointed. In October 2016 Lucky Blue Smith revealed to the Evening Standard that he was seeing someone. She was called Stormi – and the strangeness of her name didn’t go unremarked upon. The publication went on to describe Stormi as “insanely beautiful” and said that the couple would “make beautiful babies.”

Since winning the Miss Teen USA competition in 2009, representing the state of Tennessee, Stormi Bree Henley had been climbing in the world. In 2012 she joined a band with the ironic name of U.G.L.Y., which was signed to Chris Brown’s label CBE. Then, in 2015, she appeared in an episode of the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, dressed in a latex dress, no less.

Just like Lucky, Stormi Bree had a substantial Instagram following – with 583,000 followers by 2017. But her family, much like the Smiths, were also fond of giving their children rather unusual names. Stormi’s sister is called Darbi, and her parents are called Kip and Sissi. It’s no wonder, really, that she found herself drawn to a guy called Lucky Blue.

The relationship between Lucky Blue Smith and Stormi Bree Henley wasn’t a completely conventional one, either. Stormi was actually 7 years older than her teenage boyfriend. And as a Mormon, Lucky had apparently planned to abstain from sex until he was married. But what happened between the pair happened fast.

In March 2017, some six months after Lucky had confirmed his relationship with Stormi, there was an exciting new development. He posted on Instagram – where else? – that the couple were expecting. “I have some wonderful and surprising news – Stormi and I are having a baby! It’s crazy to see how my life has been so blessed,” he wrote.

There was no end to the congratulations sent by the couple’s fans. “Can’t wait to see a mini Lucky,” one wrote. A few people brought up the age difference between Lucky and Stormi and the fact that Lucky would be becoming a father while still a teenager. Most people, however, were simply happy for them, and Lucky’s young age didn’t seem to bother him at all.

Stormi apparently spent the whole of her pregnancy looking like she was doing a photo shoot for a high-class magazine. “Hopefully this is my last preggy mirror pic haha come out babyyyy,” she posted on July 16, her face and skin seemingly flawless in the selfie. But, even while heavily pregnant, she was happily walking about in the sun and filming videos.

Finally, on July 27, the thing that everybody was hoping for came to pass. The baby was born, and she was a girl. Both parents posted about the good news on their Instagrams, complete with heartwarming photos of the pair with their child. “Welcome to the world little angel, the most perfect beautiful gift I could have ever dreamed of,” read Stormi’s caption.

“She’s here,” Lucky Blue wrote on his own Instagram, alongside a lot of heart-eye emojis and a picture of himself tenderly holding the baby. “Meet Gravity Blue Smith, I’ve never felt so happy… I love you more than anything in this whole world little princess.” Awww! But wait, what was the little girl’s name again?

As befitting a family so fond of unique and unusual names, Lucky Blue and Stormi Bree had named their daughter Gravity. And their fans were absolutely delighted about it. “All of you have such unique names, and it just makes this even more beautiful,” one commenter wrote. Another wondered what the name actually meant. “I feel like it might be because [the child] keeps them grounded,” they wrote.

Whatever the meaning behind her name, there was no doubt that Gravity Blue would grow up to be beautiful – and, most likely, successful. She quickly became the star feature of her mother’s Instagram. And Stormi Bree settled into motherhood very well indeed, making it look downright easy. She even posted a beautiful picture of her breastfeeding Gravity when National Breastfeeding Week came around.

Media outlets covering the story of Gravity’s birth also mentioned the fact that she was far from the only celebrity child to have an unusual name. Indeed, the little baby is joining a whole host of strangely-named famous kids, including Apollo Bowie (Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s son), Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee’s son with Beth Riesgraf) and Apple (Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter).

All those children, plus Lucky and Stormi themselves, have proven that having a strange name doesn’t necessarily hold you back in life. It does admittedly help to be a celebrity, or extremely good looking, of course. Hopefully, though, Gravity Blue Smith is a name that the world will be hearing a lot more of in a few years’ time.
