Donald Trump, according to an estimate by Forbes, is worth a cool $3.7 billion. And a man with that kind of money – who also happens to be President of the United States – doesn’t fly coach class or drive around in a second-hand Ford made in Mexico. Of course, he has access to the most luxurious forms of transport available on the planet. And The Donald has certainly never been a man to spurn those opportunities.
10. 1956 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud
President Trump has had a love affair with Rolls Royce for many years. Given the upmarket luxury image of this British brand, however, that comes as little surprise. Trump’s first Rolls Royce was a 1956 model of the classic Silver Cloud.
Other celebrity owners of the Silver Cloud have included Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. Presley’s is now in the Graceland Museum, while Sinatra – never a man for self-denial – owned three. The Silver Cloud was in fact one of Trump’s first cars, proving that The Donald had a taste for the good things in life even at an early age.
9. 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
Another brand that the President has been consistently fond of – and surprisingly enough, it’s not American either – is Mercedes Benz. Trump bought the 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and here in fact we see him taking delivery of the car outside of Trump Tower in Manhattan. You can just spot a huge red bow atop the car too – perhaps it was a present from Melania…
The SLR McLaren is a two-door sports model with a supercharged V8 engine which can propel it from a standstill to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The car was listed in the U.S. at a wallet-punishing $455,000. Of course, that’s a trifle to Trump. In addition, what with his legendary deal-making skills, you’d have to wonder what he actually paid for it.
8. Boeing 757-200
When he was not driving or being driven, The pre-presidential Donald obviously picked up an enormous amount of air miles visiting his business interests around the world. But scheduled airlines are something of which Trump knows little – as you might expect, he has his own planes.
This Boeing 757-200 is one of them. And the writing on the hull certainly leaves little doubt as to who exactly owns it. “I bought this from Paul Allen and gutted it top to bottom. It’s bigger than Air Force One, which is a step down from this in every way… Didja know it was featured on the Discovery Channel as the world’s most luxurious jetliner?” he erroneously told Rolling Stone in 2015. It was in fact featured on the Smithsonian Channel and Air Force One is bigger.
7. The Trump Princess
Unlike many of his billionaire peers, especially the Russians, Trump hasn’t lavished much of his time and money on luxury yachts. But he did own this one – the 280-foot yacht formerly known as Nabila which had a role in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again – for a time. He bought it from the Sultan of Brunei in 1987 for a reported price tag of $29 million.
Trump spent $10 million on a refit and renamed it Trump Princess. Then he hit some financial problems in 1991 and sold the boat on for a bargain $20 million to Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal, a member of the Saudi Royal family. That is probably one deal that the President prefers to forget. In fact, he’s never bought another yacht.
6. Boeing 727
Here’s another of the planes that Donald Trump owned – a 1968 Boeing 727. He paid $8 million for it in the 1980s when he bought it from a Texas oil company, Diamond Shamrock. By the time that he sold it in 2009 it was 41 years old.
At the time of the sale, Trump Organization employee George Sorial told the New York Times that the plane’s seat buckles and three bathroom sinks were all gold-plated. The Trump lettering on the side of the plane, all 30-by-four feet of it, was 23-carat gold leaf. Nobody can say that the President hides his light under a bushel.
5. Lamborghini Diablo
When it comes to cars, this Lemans blue Lamborghini Diablo Roadster VT is arguably the flashiest one that the President has ever owned. And true to habit, The Donald made sure that this model included his own branding. Trump bought the car in 1996 and then sold it just a few years later.
The car subsequently turned up for sale on eBay in late 2016 with an asking price of $460,000, which is exactly the amount it sold for after five days online. Apparently that’s up to $200,000 more than the usual price for a Diablo, so there certainly could be some sort of Trump premium in operation here.
4. Custom gold chopper
As far as we can tell, Trump has never really been a motorcycle type of guy. But he made an exception for a custom-built machine made by New York State outfit Orange County Choppers. In fact, he was presented with the bike on the Discovery Channel show American Chopper: Senior vs Junior.
Speaking on the show, an appreciative Trump told the Orange County Choppers team, “I have to say it, this is the best job you’ve ever done. 100 percent American made, that’s what I like.” The mean machine has 24-carat gold detailing, guaranteeing it to be a hit with Trump, of course.
3. 2015 Rolls Royce Phantom
We’ve already noted The Donald’s love affair with Rolls Royce, of course. And here we have him driving a 2015 Phantom. Meanwhile, it’s nice to see that the man who’s now U.S. President still liked to drive himself on occasion. Perhaps it was a day off for Trump’s long-time chauffeur, Eddie Diaz.
The four-door sedan version of the Rolls Royce Phantom will set you back more than $400,000, which is of course pocket change for a billionaire like Trump. The Rolls Royce website describes the Phantom’s construction as something of a labor of love. “Each detail matters – the five coats of paint on the bodyshell, the bookmatched veneers and the hand-stitched leatherwork,” it proclaims. “Perfection is our benchmark.” So it’s easy to see why Trump was sold on it.
2. Cessna 750 Citation X
One luxury jet clearly isn’t enough for a man like Donald Trump, so as well has his Boeing 757, he also owns a Cessna 750 Citation X. This one doesn’t have “Trump” in huge letters down the side, but look closely at the registration number on the tail fin and you’ll see he’s managed to incorporate his initials into that.
Trump used the jet extensively during his political campaigning in 2016 and he told the New York Times that, “I haven’t flown it, but I can.” Whether the security folks will be happy with the idea of the POTUS flying his own plane remains to be seen.
1. Three Sikorsky S-76B helicopters
To complete his aircraft fleet of two jet planes, the President also owns not one, but a trio of helicopters. They’re all Sikorsky S-76Bs, with two from 1989 valued at $875,000 each and the third from 1990 said to be worth $940,000.
One of the helicopters is kept at the Trump Turnberry golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Lucky golfers can charter the chopper to “take the scenic route across the rugged Scottish landscape and appreciate what this beautiful country has to offer,” as the Trump Turnberry website puts it.
