She may have fantasized about occupying “Hollywood mansions” in her music, but Gwen Stefani actually owns some jaw-dropping pads in real life. And with a sweet $35 million Beverly Hills house to her name, we’d say this “Rich Girl” singer is way beyond living the dream.
From the outside alone, this mansion is enough to make a house hunter’s eyes water. The estate, which is set high atop a ridge in California’s San Fernando Valley, offers impressive vistas of the surrounding area. Indeed, the bright lights of Studio City can be seen from the front door.
Perhaps this is why Stefani and her then-husband Gavin Rossdale purchased the property back in 2006. Plus, with her second solo album The Sweet Escape racing towards platinum status, it seemed the perfect time for Stefani to “settle down.” And owing to its then-reasonable $13.25 million price tag, how could she refuse this glorious estate?
However, times have changed, and the two are now moving on from this stellar pad to pastures new. Following their 2015 separation and a bitter divorce battle, the pair listed the property in October 2016.
But every cloud has its silver lining, and Stefani looks set to make a windfall if she manages to find a buyer. In fact, with an asking price of $35 million, this “Hollaback Girl” could earn back nearly three times as much as she spent over a decade ago.
But while these images may show the villa at its best, pictures like these “Don’t Speak” for the home’s full grandeur. Because like every great house, this pad has a long and interesting backstory and some very high-profile former owners.
From 2000 to 2004, in fact, the place was owned by singer, actress and girl from the block Jennifer Lopez, who picked it up for $4.2 million. Following J. Lo’s departure, the house fell into the hands of entrepreneur Sam Nazarian before eventually being picked up by Stefani.
And it’s easy to see why this pad has been a haven for so many VIPs. Before visitors even set foot inside, they must first pass a guarded gate. Combined with a 250-foot driveway leading up to the house itself, these security measures ensure a great deal of privacy and protection.
Inside, the mansion’s décor is just as opulent as its exterior would have you believe. The interior, designed by specialist Kelly Wearstler, features a bold and eye-catching maximalist style that’s sure to be the talking point of any dinner party.
After journeying through an elegantly decorated foyer, guests are treated to an expansive and exquisitely furnished living room. Cut off by a marble fireplace, this living area gives way to an adjoining skylight-lit dining and kitchen area.
Throughout its more than generous 11,850-square-foot living space, the house offers lush gateways into the beautiful surrounding area. For example, many rooms feature wide windows that allow for scenic views of the neighboring mountains. Meanwhile, a comforting white color scheme helps accentuate the interior’s abundant natural lighting.
In terms of bedrooms, Stefani and her family were more than catered for with no less than seven impressive seven sleeping quarters. Described by listing agent Stephen Shapiro as “oversized with luxurious baths,” these rooms gave plenty of space for Stefani and her kids Kingston, Zuma and Apollo to get a good night’s rest.
But while each room undoubtedly has its own unique charm, the master suite is beyond compare. For example, the luxurious chamber actually has separate his and her bathrooms for each partner to complete their ablutions in peace. Plus, there are even two standalone bespoke dressing rooms, which we’re sure were once stocked with Gwen’s custom L.A.M.B. clothing.
In addition to the master suite’s dual washing facilities, a further nine bathrooms can be found throughout the house. And as with the rest of the mansion, each features a unique and arresting design scheme that emphasizes sharp angles and vivid color schemes.
Besides featuring every mod con available, the mansion also boasts some impressive amenities. In particular, a fully stocked gym is on hand to help its owners get in a workout before a long tour. It has even been likened by Shapiro to “a club,” and while it may not be a suitable location for a party, it’s sure to get its users’ hearts racing.
Elsewhere, the house features centers for both work and play. And more business-minded buyers will certainly be tempted by the home’s set of office spaces. Meanwhile, those more disposed to relaxation will take comfort in the screening room and its fully functional home theater system.
But as exciting as the interior amenities are, they cannot compete with what the house has to offer outside. A celebrity mansion wouldn’t be worth its salt without a swimming pool, and this California villa has just that. But the addition of a lighted tennis court will really seal the deal for sports enthusiasts.
Furthermore, an outdoor kitchen offers an opportunity to enjoy breakfast in sync with the glorious Beverly Hills sunrise. Finally, the mansion comes complete with an adjoining guest house which – like the main building – offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. And so all in all, $35 million seems like a small price for such a complete home.
Having formed her career-making band No Doubt in Anaheim in 1986, Stefani is certainly accustomed to the area too. And besides a brief stay with Rossdale in a $3 million London apartment, it seems that California is the place this superstar truly feels is home.
However, it seems that Stefani might not be staying in the Golden State much longer. Indeed, the singer is reportedly set to move into a guest house her boyfriend and Voice co-star Blake Shelton is building on his Oklahoma ranch. Perhaps this is for the best, though. After all, how could any other California properties compete with this extravagant pad?
