Boasting five bedrooms, four-and-a-bit bathrooms and even its own cinema, this opulent Los Angeles mansion was fit for any Hollywood star and their entourage. Little wonder then that it was snapped up just days after being put on the market in 2014. We present you with a guided tour around the pad where world-famous actress Mila Kunis, 34, used to return to take it easy after a hard day on set.
Best-known for her roles in That ’70s Show and Family Guy, a single Kunis bought the Mediterranean-styled property for $2.885m in 2008. Six years on – and with a baby well on the way and Hollywood A-list fiancé Ashton Kutcher in tow – she no longer needed a bachelorette pad. By selling the prime piece of L.A. real estate for $3.825 million, Kunis made almost a million.
However, Kutcher cannily sold his own house for more than twice this amount that same year. The actor had bought his luxurious pad overlooking the Hollywood Reservoir shortly after splitting with the actress Demi Moore. Kunis and Kutcher then pooled their resources to buy a Beverly Hills home together for a cool $10 million.
Kunis’ home was located at 3028 Paulcrest Drive, a private cul de sac near the famous Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. Built in 1958, the 4,900-square-foot property was just a stone’s throw away from the Briar Summit Open Space Preserve. It was originally bought through the Yokum Drive Trust, which has Kunis’ manager, Cameron Curtis, as trustee.
After entering the property through its Mediterranean-inspired doorway, visitors would be greeted with the sight of a breath-taking open-floored lay out made for home entertainment. Here Kunis chose a neutral color scheme of tans, browns and creams to complement the dark wood and link the various sections together. These included a living room, a kitchen and a dining area.
The living room boasted a fireplace complemented by a woven jute rug. It was also lit by stunning chandeliers made up of many glass orbs. While Kunis’ guests could choose to park their derrieres on either a lengthy sofa, chaise longue, armchair or ottoman and swap the latest Tinsel Town tittle tattle.
The kitchen area was just as impressive. Its granite countertops, white walls and array of mod cons were neatly bolstered by a white marble backsplash. The kitchen island is also illuminated by a row of four pendant-style drop lights which illuminated the exposed wooden beams in the ceiling and funky stainless steel barstools.
But the most jaw-dropping part of the open-floor plan was undoubtedly the dining room area. Indeed, anyone lucky enough to receive a Kunis dinner party invitation would have enjoyed their meal while taking in the splendor of the Hollywood Hills through the large windows. And the actress may well have done played chef. “I’m best at Russian food, because that’s what I saw my mother cooking growing up. I was born in the Ukraine, although my family moved to Los Angeles when I was seven,” she once informed U.K. women’s magazine More!
Kunis would also have been able to soak up the L.A. landscape when she hit the sack. The master bedroom boasted stunning views of the hills too, along with easy access to the private pool out back. With its tasteful display of photography and its charcoal-grey coloured wall, the interior view was also easy on the eye.
As would be expected the main bathroom was just as elegant as the master bedroom. Indeed, not many people get to enjoy a soak while soothed by the light of a candelabra. Kunis spent plenty of time in there while undergoing the grueling experience of filming the psychological thriller Black Swan. She told Vogue magazine, “I did a lot of baths. It’s what I looked forward to every single night – a bath, with Epsom salts and a glass of wine.”
Even when she was several months pregnant, Kunis was being hailed as a fashion icon by the world’s media. And she certainly used to have plenty of closet space to store all her many stylish outfits – including glamourous maternity wear. The floor-to-ceiling walk-in wardrobe pictured here, complete with granite island, is bigger than most people’s bedrooms.
The main guest bedroom might not have been quite as plush as the master, but Kunis’ visitors wouldn’t exactly have been slumming it either. Featuring crown molding and wall-to-wall plush carpeting, the spacious room also featured its very own built-in bookshelf. And its wide French doors opened out to a picturesque array of trees which offered the occupants some privacy.
These sculpted shrubs could be enjoyed outside too, thanks to the private four-seater patio area outside the guest bedroom. Visitors chez Kunis could also enjoy a soak in the guest bathroom decorated with chinoiserie wallpaper. Turns out that the star is just as stylish when it comes to dressing her home furnishing as dressing herself.
Kunis’ guests certainly didn’t have to squabble over who got to sleep where. The third bedroom was also modishly furnished and boasted a similar view to the second. Alongside a bed framed by an upholstered white headboard, it also came equipped with a white sculptural floor lamp and two leather-seated stools.
Kunis has appeared in dozens of films since making her debut in 1995’s made-for-TV horror film Piranha. We wonder how many of those she watched in the comfort of her very own very exclusive eight-seater theater. Not only did it come with leather recliner seats, it also had its very own popcorn machine!
Kunis is no stranger to hitting the gym. But rather than risk getting papped by the paparazzi in her sweats, she could always workout in her former home. Kitted out with an exercise bike and rowing machine, this home gym also featured a woven jute rug and a mirror perfectly positioned for a quick bit of self-admiring.
And yet there’s more! The property also included its very own powder room, which was decorated with ultra-chic herringbone pattern tiles. A tastefully designed fourth bedroom, complete with en-suite and patio area, also ensured that Kunis was never short of sleepover space.
But the award for most stunning part of Kunis’ old pad must go to the pool area. The large swimming pool was surrounded by hardwood and stone decking and boasted outstanding iconic views of downtown L.A. There was also a jacuzzi tub and a spacious lounge and dining area, which must have been perfect for hosting a star-studded bash.
Indeed, who needs to hit the town when you have everything in place for the coolest party right at home? The poolside area also featured an outdoor kitchen, complete with stainless steel grill and wraparound cabinets. Guests could watch chef in action while they enjoyed a cocktail or two atop a barstool.
Kunis may no longer own the stunning bachelorette pad, but she now has the keys to a pair of luxurious properties. There’s the main Beverly Hills home she shares with Kutcher – her now husband, they wed in 2015 – and their two children, daughter Wyatt, 2, and 10-month-old son Dimitri. And then the A-list pairing recently bought a six-bedroom Santa Barbara beach house worth $10 million.
