Celebrities Who Tore Up The Rule Book And Married Their Fans

Every so often a fan seriously lucks out: they meet the famous object of their desires, win their heart and actually end up marrying them. But how likely is it really that a resident movie star would get down on one knee for one of us regular folk? Well, take note, because these couples may just give hope to celebrity admirers the world over. Fame seekers and hopeless romantics should tread carefully, though, as not all of these relationships have gone the distance.

1. Steve and Marjorie Harvey

Marjorie Bridges was sitting in the audience at one of Steve Harvey’s comedy gigs when he first noticed her – and, apparently, immediately fell in love. “I don’t know who you are, but I’m going to marry you,” he said to the fan. True to his word, Harvey eventually put a ring on it in 2007 — a whole 17 years after their initial Memphis meeting. Aww!

2. Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim

The story of how Alice Kim met Nicolas Cage is the stuff of fairy tales: she was a waitress, and he a Hollywood film star. Apparently, it was a simple phone number swap that led to Kim eventually becoming Cage’s wife in 2004. Wasting no time, the following year Kim gave birth to their improbably named son, Kal-El. Sadly, even the most magical of stories must come to an end — the couple split after 11 years of married life.

3. Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis

According to Jamie Lee Curtis, all it took was a photo of This Is Spinal Tap star Christopher Guest to seal the deal. After spying the snap in Rolling Stone magazine, her mind was made up. That’s right — Curtis claims she instantly decided that he was the man she would marry. Fast-forward a few months, and after a little chasing on the actress’ part, she did! Seems that trusting your gut pays off, as the pair have been wed for over 30 years now.

4. Julia Roberts and Danny Moder

Life somewhat imitated art for Julia Roberts when she met and started dating The Mexican cameraman Danny Moder. After all, at that point, she’d already played the megastar going out with a normal dude in Notting Hill. Unlike Hugh Grant’s character in the rom-com, though, Moder was already married – a state of affairs that he swiftly resolved before finally wedding his very own leading lady in 2002.

5. Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

It’s fair to say that Reese Witherspoon could have taken her pick of any number of famous young men to be her future husband. The man she chose, though, was a little less starry. It’s worth noting, though, that Toth is co-head of Witherspoon's own media company, Hello Sunshine. So arguably, she picked someone almost guaranteed to admire her already. Yup, in 2014, three years after the pair had wed, Witherspoon described Toth as her “number one fan.” Sweet!

6. Ringo Starr and Maureen Cox Starkey

Despite facing some vicious competition, Maureen Cox managed to bag a Beatle in the form of drummer Ringo Starr. And while it took time, dedication, and attending many Cavern Club shows for Cox to even get Starr to notice her, he came around eventually. Roll on 1967, then, and the loved-up pair made it down the aisle. Turns out that maybe all you need is not love, though, as their marriage only lasted until 1975.

7. Corey Feldman and Susie Sprague

Susie Feldman apparently once said of ex-husband Corey, “I knew I would marry [him] ever since I saw Stand By Me.” And that’s exactly what happened in 2002. Unfortunately, though – and perhaps because the actor was now far from the teen heartthrob he was in that movie – the one-time Playboy pinup filed for divorce in 2009.

8. Adam Sandler and Jackie Titone

Sure, not everyone is an Adam Sandler enthusiast, but luckily, his love-him-or-hate-him persona didn’t drive away the one woman who really mattered. When former model Titone first met the movie star, it’s safe to say she fell firmly into the fan category. Phew! What’s more, she was reportedly head over heels when he offered her a part in his film Big Daddy. An auspicious move, perhaps, as Sandler and Titone eventually got hitched in 2003 and now have two daughters together — Sunny and Sadie.

9. Danny Bonaduce and Amy Railsback

Former child actor and reality TV star Danny Bonaduce supposedly met his third wife, Amy Railsback, when she ran into him as a fan in a coffee shop. And not only did this seemingly inauspicious first meet eventually end in the pair marrying in 2010, but it also gave Railsback a new job: she’s now Bonaduce’s manager.

10. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Nick Cannon grew up with a poster of Mariah Carey on his wall; she was, he says, his “dream girl” and “the one.” And, you guessed it, dreams really can become a reality — at least for this TV host. He and Mariah pair tied the knot back in 2008, but things didn’t last. Unfortunately, they woke up from the dream with a bang when they got divorced in 2016.

11. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin had a pretty significant crush on Gwyneth Paltrow before he met her. He even wryly named her his “girlfriend” at one gig. And sparks evidently flew when the pair eventually set eyes on each other, as they married in 2003. Famously, though, Martin and Paltrow “consciously uncoupled” in 2014.

12. Jessica Alba and Cash Warren

Perhaps the one good thing to come out of 2005’s Fantastic Four was that leading lady Jessica Alba met her husband – lowly production assistant Cash Warren – on set. Warren has quipped that he “got lucky” in winning over the actress. Certainly, since they married in 2008 and now have three beautiful children, it’s clear that he’s not done too badly out of the gig at all.

13. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

In 2004 Katie Holmes rather wistfully told Seventeen magazine, “I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise.” And if we skip to the good bit... a mere seven months later, Cruise would leap onto Oprah’s couch proclaiming his love for the former Dawson’s Creek actress. A lavish wedding took place the year after – although given that it all ended in divorce in 2012, Holmes may now be more careful about what she wishes for.

14. Fergie and Josh Duhamel

In 2004 Josh Duhamel told a magazine that he had a big crush on Fergie — not to mention occasional dreams about her! And when they eventually met, Fergie’s second line to him was probably the exact opposite of what smitten Duhamel was hoping for: “How was I in your dream?” The actor must have saved face somehow, as he and the Black Eyed Peas singer got married in 2009. But, alas, it all ended in divorce. According to sources, the pair still keep up a healthy relationship as they co-parent their son, Axl.

15. Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman

Actor Adam Shulman had a big crush on Anne Hathaway but didn’t want to ask her out as he was afraid that she’d be dating someone else. An easy assumption to make, sure, but as soon as he found out that she wasn’t, he made his move. And it was a good move at that, for the pair went on to marry in 2012. They now have two children together, too. N'aww!

16. Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa

While Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa’s year-long marriage may now be over, how the couple’s relationship began is still kind of heartwarming. When Khalifa was asked in an interview about his ideal woman, the hip-hop star gave Rose’s name. What’s more, the model was flattered and told him so on Twitter, with the pair going on to date, marry and have a son together. Very public break-up aside, that's pretty sweet, right?

17. Elvis and Priscilla Presley

By now, Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s relationship may well have given hope to several generations of love-struck teens. After all, it took a mere chance meeting in Germany for romance to blossom between the young fan and the hip-swinging pop star, even if she was somewhat underage at the time. The pair, of course, went on to marry when Priscilla was 21 — although sadly, it was a union that lasted less than five years.

18. Victoria and David Beckham

In the ’90s, now-retired soccer player David Beckham admitted to being a Spice Girls fan — or a fan of one member in particular. In fact, of the woman once known as Victoria Adams, Beckham told British newspaper The Sun, “She’s my idea of perfection. I knew that if she wanted me, we would be together forever.” She did want him, as it turned out, and their more than two decades of marriage has gone down in power-couple history.

19. David Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman

Supposedly, David Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman's romance all started back in the early noughties when the Friends star was filming in the U.K. and Buckman was a waitress. Sparks clearly flew in those early days, and the pair now have one daughter. Though Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman announced their split in 2017, the duo enjoyed seven years of marriage after a secret ceremony took place in 2010. It turns out that the actor's frantic schedule was just too much for this normal gal.

20. John Travolta and Kelly Preston

Kelly Preston has claimed that after clapping eyes on a poster for Grease, she had “a flash” of knowledge that she was going to get hitched to John Travolta. “I really knew it and it turned into, ‘I’m going to marry that man,’” the actress said in 2007. Silly? Maybe — but they stayed together for almost 30 years before Preston sadly passed away.

21. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

It’s hard to imagine Kanye West doing anything as normal as having a crush on someone, but before he reached superstar status, he definitely crushed hard on Kim Kardashian. In fact, when his ex, Amber Rose, accused him of exchanging sexy snaps with the reality star, the rapper replied, “I wish.” Proof then that, well, wishes do come true, as they went on to wed in 2014. We’ll brush over the rough patches, but let’s just say — things didn’t work out for the star-studded pair. But when it comes to love, the heart wants what it wants. And what it wants isn't always glitz and glamour...

22. Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso

Damon had been shooting the movie Stuck On You in Miami, Florida, when he visited a local bar where Luciana Barroso was working behind the counter. They struck up a conversation, which led to a date, which led to a marriage. They've been together since 2005!

23. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

This notorious ladies man swore off marriage after getting divorced at a young age. He stayed true to his word... until he met renowned attorney and human rights activist Amal Alamuddin. The couple wed in 2014 and have since started a family.

24. Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer

Jennifer Meyer, Maguire's wife since 2007, has been a constant fixture in the star's life. That's why fans were shocked to learn that the couple filed for divorce in 2017. Things took their sweet time moving along, though, which had some fans hoping there was still hope that normal love could conquer all. Who knows what fate will leave waiting around the corner?

25. Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego

In 2013, Saldana married Marco Perego, and no one was surprised that she kept quiet about it. For Saldana, privacy is paramount. That's why she doesn't use any form of social media, and why she would rather be married to an average Joe—or in this case, an average Marco.

26. Lisa Kudrow and Michael Stern

In 1995, this Friends star married her long-time boyfriend, Michael Stern, who was otherwise an outsider in the celebrity world. To Kudrow, it was more important to marry someone who knew her before she was famous than to bag a celebrity hottie spouse. Perhaps her strong morals were what brought them together, or maybe it was just destiny? Either way, things couldn't have been more romantic — as when the pair first met, Stern was actually dating her roommate. Call it fate...

27. Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen

The really beautiful thing about Fallon's marriage to Nancy Juvonen is that, while she's not a household name, she's still in the business as a film producer. Their shared background must have contributed to their marriage lasting since 2007.

28. Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa

In 2009, Jonas stunned the world when he married Danielle Deleasa. Why all the shock and cause for concern? Because instead of marrying a celebrity, Jonas wed a hairdresser. Two kids and many years later, Jonas wouldn't change his choice for all the world.

29. James Corden and Julia Carey

In 2012, when Julia Carey said "I do" to this British talk show host and comedian, she had no idea she would have to pack up her life and move from Great Britain to the U.S.A. Luckily, she was happy to do it! According to an interview with People back in 2018, the pair hit it off right away when they first met at an event for Save the Children.

30. Christian Bale and Sibi Blazic

Sibi Blazic, Bale's wife since 2000, was working as a stunt coordinator on a movie when they met. With her actor hubby raking in more than $20 million per picture, Blazic has long since waved goodbye to the stunt coordinator game!

31. Ja Rule and Aisha Atkins

Though rumors have long swirled about Ja Rule having a romance with singer Ashanti, Aisha Atkins—his wife since 2001—is the woman who has always had his heart. The proof is in the pudding — you don't have to be famous to catch a celeb's eye!

32. Gal Gadot and Yaron Varsano

The beautiful thing about Gadot's marriage to real estate developer Yaron Varsano is that his job, like hers, often requires him to travel. This means he can often visit Gadot on set without having to worry about taking any pesky vacation days. He's done just that since they tied the knot in 2008.

33. Gucci Mane and Keyshia Ka'oir

Though Mane has dated famous folks in the past, his name didn't turn into a major million-dollar brand until his wife Keyshia Ka'oir came on board in 2017, managing his merchandising agreements and other parts of his business. Normal, yes, but also business-savvy! A match made in business heaven.

34. Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac

When Johansson married French journalist Romain Dauriac in 2014, no one thought it would last... and they were right! The couple split in 2017. Some normal men just can't handle being married to a celebrity lady!

35. Meryl Streep and Donald Gummer

This major actress has been married to her husband, Donald Gummer, since 1978! Of course, marrying normal doesn't mean having normal kids—in fact, all four of Streep and Gummer's children have gone on to make impressive careers in show business themselves.

36. Prince William and Kate Middleton

When Prince William married "commoner" Kate Middleton in 2011, it was a fairy tale come true. No one could believe that this so-called normal girl was about to get a happy ending with a prince—and her own royal title of Duchess to boot! Fast forward over a decade, and it's hard to imagine Kate as anything other than the glamorous royal she really is. These are all incredibly high-profile celebrity couples, but there are also plenty of huge stars in relationships that would surprise the heck out of you. Seriously, some of these pairings will have you saying, “They’re married? No way!”

37. Emma Stone and Dave McCary

Yes, Emma Stone is married now! In September 2020 the La La Land star tied the knot with Dave McCary – the Saturday Night Live writer she’d been dating since 2017. But as Stone isn’t one for big press announcements – she’s not even on social media – casual fans can be forgiven for not knowing much about her personal life. The wedding announcement even came through People magazine rather than McCary’s Instagram account, which had previously been used to reveal his and Stone’s engagement.

38. Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford

The Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan wed Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons back in 2012. Yes, that long ago! And now the pair have two children, Evelyn Grace and Wilfred, who entered the world in 2015 and 2017, respectively. But the couple conduct their relationship largely out of the public eye. Back in 2015, Mulligan told Vogue, “Marcus is the only thing that’s mine that I can keep totally away, so I try to.” That’s nice.

39. Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes

While Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes were snapped together at the 2012 premiere for The Place Among the Pines, they haven’t really been pictured together since. Some fans may even have no idea that they’ve been in a relationship since 2011 and are now mom and dad to two kids. But Mendes seems to be content with that. When someone joked on Instagram that she and Gosling should attend more public events, Mendes replied, “No thank you, I’m good. Rather be home with my man than anywhere else in the world.”

40. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden

In January 2020 Cameron Diaz and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden announced the birth of their implausibly named daughter Raddix. But in keeping with how they’ve conducted their publicity-shy marriage, the couple made sure that fans knew they’d be maintaining a strict level of privacy with regards to their new arrival. Diaz wrote on Instagram, “We won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact she is really, really cute!”

41. Adam Brody and Leighton Meester

Fans of classic teen shows The O.C. and Gossip Girl were delighted when Adam Brody and Leighton Meester married in 2014. Seth Cohen and Blair Waldorf! Together! And since then, the couple have had two children – not that you’d know unless you’re an avid gossip mag reader. Regarding his and Meester’s avoidance of the spotlight, Brody told GQ in 2019, “She’s more inherently private than I am. I don’t seek publicity, but if I’m sitting next to you on the subway, I’ll tell you everything about me.”

42. Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley

When Margot Robbie shared a photo of herself with Tom Ackerley as she got ready to attend the Oscars in February 2020, it was a rare public moment for the couple. The movie star and the producer tied the knot in 2016 after initially living with some pals in London. Speaking to Elle in 2018, Robbie revealed that the house had “turned into The Jerry Springer Show” for a period when their roommates discovered she and Ackerley were dating. Scandal!

43. Dave Franco and Alison Brie

GLOW star Alison Brie and 21 Jump Street’s Dave Franco have been together since 2011 and husband and wife from 2017. They tend to keep their relationship on the down-low, though. In fact, their first red carpet appearance as a couple only came a whopping four years after their relationship began. And as Brie recently starred in Franco’s directorial debut, The Rental, the pair are seemingly able to work together while still staying relatively under the radar. That’s quite a trick in 2020!

44. Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam

Long before she appeared in How I Met Your Mother, Stumptown or the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a 22-year-old Cobie Smulders met fellow actor Taran Killam at a pal’s birthday celebrations. And it’s fair to say that romance blossomed from there. The couple went on to wed in 2012 and have two children, you see, although they rarely publicize their relationship. Yet Smulders did take the opportunity to say of Killam, “Isn’t he just a dream? I’m a very lucky woman,” during a 2019 slot on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Aww.

45. Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the most acclaimed directors of modern times, with eight Academy Award nominations to his name. Maya Rudolph is a celebrated comedian who you may know from Saturday Night Live and the hit movie Bridesmaids. And yet you’ve probably never seen the pair together. Strange, right? Their relationship began almost two decades ago, though, and has since seen them become parents to four children. And while they’re not actually married, Rudolph and Anderson refer to each other as “wife” and “husband,” which is kind of cute.

46. Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz

Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz are another famous couple who seem to have a strict “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy when it comes to the media. Their two children are never discussed with the press, for instance, and even their wedding was a secret affair in the Caribbean. But Cruz has her reasons. In 2019 she explained to Tatler that it would simply be strange for her and her husband to conduct their relationship in the public eye and that she “just couldn’t do it.” Hard to argue with that.

47. Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale must be involved in some kind of voodoo. How else do you explain keeping your relationship under wraps while still working together on several occasions? They’ve both appeared in Annie, Spy and Adult Beginners. In the latter movie, they were even seen on screen as husband and wife! But the fact that Byrne and Cannavale have been together since 2012 and have two sons is hardly common knowledge. Quite a feat.

48. Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski

During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden in 2017, Life in Pieces star Thomas Sadoski revealed that he and fianceé Amanda Seyfried had secretly tied the knot. It was surprising in one way, but also unremarkable in another because Seyfried and Sadoski have always conducted their relationship in an understated manner. They’re just like us, you see. Only richer. And better looking.

49. Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn

Taylor Swift has been in a relationship with English actor Joe Alwyn since 2016, although the two are rarely seen together. It’s serious, too, as reports emerged in 2018 claiming that the pop star thought it was time for her and her beau to marry. And while no engagement has materialized yet, Swift has included many references to her boyfriend in her music. She’s even written a song all about him: the aptly named “London Boy.”

50. Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons

Jesse Plemons’ rise to fame was kick-started by a scene-stealing turn as the villainous Todd in Breaking Bad. But some may be unaware that he’s been engaged to Spider-Man and Marie Antoinette superstar Kirsten Dunst since 2017. The two even have a young son named Ennis. In a wonderful Hollywood twist of fate, the pair first encountered each other in 2015 when cast as a couple in the second season of FX’s Fargo. Seems that life does imitate art from time to time...

51. Clare Danes and Hugh Dancy

Lovers of Homeland and Hannibal may be shocked to find out that Clare Danes and Hugh Dancy, the respective leads of those two acclaimed shows, are married in real life. They have two sons, in fact. And while they don’t hide their relationship as such, they do shy away from social media. Even when Dancy nabbed a recurring role in the last season of Homeland, he and Danes still remained separate – as their characters never appeared on screen together.

52. Florence Pugh and Zach Braff

For those gossip-hounds who do know about Florence Pugh’s relationship with Zach Braff, their 20-year age gap is a source of controversy. So much so, in fact, that Pugh felt the need to respond to Instagram trolls by writing, “I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love…” But the world-at-large may still be unaware that she and the Scrubs star are together, as to date they’ve attended red carpet events separately.

53. Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Martin McDonagh

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Martin McDonagh are certainly no strangers to critical plaudits. Waller-Bridge has won three Emmys for her acclaimed show Fleabag, while McDonagh scooped an Oscar back in 2006 and has since earned three additional Academy Awards nods. But they’re total strangers to publicly discussing their relationship, which began in 2018. Waller-Bridge once flat-out told a journalist, “I’m not going to talk about that,” when asked about her romance with McDonagh.

54. Joshua Jackson and Jodi Turner-Smith

The Affair star Joshua Jackson apparently first encountered Jodie Turner-Smith at Usher’s 40th birthday celebration – as you do. And while they didn’t even appear at a public event as a couple until November 2019, their romance has wound up being a total whirlwind. In April 2020 Jackson and Turner Smith’s baby daughter was born – just a few months after they’d gotten married.

55. Garrett Hedlund and Emma Roberts

Perhaps because their previous relationships with Kirsten Dunst and Evan Peters flamed out in full view of the media, Garrett Hedlund and Emma Roberts have been remarkably quiet about their burgeoning romance. It’s known that Roberts is pregnant with the couple’s first child and reported that they’re happy and having fun together. But it’s certainly not like they’re putting themselves out there on red carpets for the world to see.

56. Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney

Cooke Maroney is a high-flying New York gallery director. Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most famous and highest-paid actresses in the world. That makes them a pretty great power couple. But you’re unlikely to see them make a big song and dance about it, given how they barely ever step out together in public. Still, fans know that Lawrence and Maroney have had a crazy couple of years, only meeting back in 2018 before marrying in the fall of 2019.

57. Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander

In March 2020 Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander made their first red-carpet appearance as a couple in three years. Their previous outing was at the fall 2016 premiere of The Light Between Oceans – the film on which they met. And a lot of moviegoers probably don’t know that Fassbender and Vikander are an item at all, even though the couple wed in 2017.

58. Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder

In a 2018 chat on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast, Julia Roberts explained that her 2002 marriage to cinematographer Daniel Moder had created a “seismic shift” in her life. Yet while the movie star seems perfectly happy to talk about her husband, there aren’t exactly many photographs of them together. Fans may know that Roberts is married, then, but not who Moder is.

59. Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal

The Dark Knight star Maggie Gyllenhaal has been married to character actor Peter Sarsgaard for more than a decade now. They have a couple of kids, too, and have been shooting The Lost Daughter – which Sarsgaard stars in and Gyllenhaal has been directing. It seems like the perfect balance of navigating the movie industry as a duo while somehow avoiding the paparazzi following their every move. They’ve got it all figured out, in fact.

60. Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy

Comedy fans will know the name Chris Henchy from his writing credits on the Will Ferrell movies The Campaign and The Other Guys. He also helped found the legendary website Funny or Die with Ferrell and Adam McKay. But what may well blow these folks’ minds is that Henchy is married to Brooke Shields. Yes, that Brooke Shields. Maybe women really do like men who make them laugh…

61. Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde

Unless you follow the ins and outs of celebrity relationships closely, you’re unlikely to place Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde together. After all, they’ve only worked on the same movie twice, and even then they barely shared the screen. But they’ve actually been a couple since 2011, have two children and seem very much in love.

62. Keira Knightley and James Righton

In 2019 Keira Knightley admitted to The Irish Times that social media freaks her out. She mused, “I mean, the thing is, I don’t have very much that I want to share in that way.” Her lack of internet presence is likely why some people have no idea she’s married and has two children. Not only that, but she’s wed to James Righton, who was a founding member of the U.K. electro-rock group Klaxons.

63. Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan

Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan are probably two of the most unassuming stars in Hollywood. In a 2018 piece by The Guardian, they were even described as looking “more like hikers about to ask for directions to the nearest youth hostel” than a celebrity couple. And Kazan and Dano are also so tight-lipped about their private lives that they only publicly confirmed their baby girl existed during that very Guardian interview. The article itself was published two months after the birth.

64. Diane Kruger and Norman Reedus

National Treasure star Diane Kruger has kept her romance with The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus quiet ever since they got together in 2016. They didn’t walk a red carpet together until late in 2018, in fact, and have yet to reveal the name of their daughter, who was born in December of that year. It’s possible that Kruger is wary about giving away too much personal information after her breakup with Joshua Jackson became a media spectacle in 2016.

65. Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk

Gwyneth Paltrow married Brad Falchuk, the co-creator of Glee and American Horror Story, in a small ceremony in 2018. The intensely private couple first ran into each other in 2010 on the set of Glee, but they didn’t begin a relationship until 2014. Not only that, but the actress and her beau didn’t even step out in public together until a year later. It’s all a far cry from Paltrow’s extremely public marriage to – and much-mocked “conscious uncoupling” from – Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

66. Taraji P. Henson and Kelvin Hayden

Taraji P. Henson and Kelvin Hayden initially dated in secret for two years, so they’ve long attempted to maintain their privacy. Fans of the Empire actress and her ex-NFL beau may have also forgotten that they’re supposedly still a couple, as Henson hasn’t mentioned Hayden on her Instagram account since March 2020. He hasn’t posted about her since Valentine’s Day of that year, either. Have they broken up? Who knows, but the lack of comment’s in keeping with their cloak-and-dagger relationship up to this point.

67. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky

Thanks to his role as Thor, Chris Hemsworth is undoubtedly one of the biggest movie stars on the planet. Surely we know all about his wife, then? Well, MCU fanboys may do, but casual admirers? Not so much. You see, since 2014 Hemsworth and his family have lived in his homeland of Australia – far away from the Hollywood scene. This is likely how he and Elsa Pataky have kept a low profile, despite the fact that she’s a star of the Fast and the Furious franchise.

68. Helen Mirren and Taylor Hackford

Few couples are as tightly woven into the fabric of Hollywood as Helen Mirren and Taylor Hackford. The iconic Mirren is an Oscar winner and a dame in her native England, while her husband is the director of classics such as An Officer and a Gentleman and Ray. But perhaps because Hackford is a behind-the-camera talent, some moviegoers may not even know what he looks like.

69. Elliot Page and Emma Portner

Juno star Elliot Page and his choreographer wife Emma Portner have been together since 2017, but there isn’t a ton known about their day-to-day lives. Even their wedding was conducted in secret and only announced after the fact on Instagram. But the story of how they met should be more widely known, as it’s rather sweet. In 2018 Page revealed to The New York Times that he had DMed Portner after being blown away by one of her Instagram dance videos. And from there, romance blossomed. Cute!

70. Elle Fanning and Max Minghella

“I mean, we just really love working together. That was, like, very special, and he’s such a good friend.” This was Elle Fanning’s response to Entertainment Tonight’s suggestion that she was dating The Handmaid’s Tale’s Max Minghella. And the couple still haven’t stated that they’re together, meaning a lot of fans would be none the wiser. But we wonder if the lady doth protest too much.

71. Carrie Coon and Tracy Letts

If you know the Chicago theater scene, you’ll be familiar with actor Carrie Coon and August: Osage County playwright Tracy Letts. You may have read that they’ve been together since 2010 and are parents to a son, too. But even as their stars have soared, with Coon starring in The Leftovers, Letts in Ford v Ferrari and the pair appearing together in The Sinner, their public profile as a couple has still been relatively low.

72. Amber Tamblyn and David Cross

What do Tobias Funke from Arrested Development and Joan Girardi from Joan of Arcadia have in common? They’re married in real life, of course. Yes, you read that right! Comedian David Cross and actress Amber Tamblyn have a daughter together, too. Perhaps the fact that they don’t work together accounts for the relative lack of knowledge about their relationship, or maybe it’s just because they don’t court the tabloids.

73. Chelsea Peretti and Jordan Peele

Finding out that Get Out’s Jordan Peele is married to Gina Linetti from Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a bit of a mind-blower. The pair are a bit of a social media success story, as they initially linked up via Twitter before getting married and having a son. And maybe they’ll connect more easily in the eyes of the world if Peretti gets a starring role in Peele’s next horror opus. That is, unless they like flying under the radar.

74. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton

The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and One Tree Hill’s Hilarie Burton tied the knot in October 2019 after ten years together. Now, they live together with their two children out in New York State, which isn’t exactly paparazzi central. And that may explain how Morgan and Burton aren’t constantly hounded by the media. In fact, some Negan fans may be shocked to know that the actor is married at all.

75. Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse

Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse are so low-key that neither of them has ever directly said the other’s name when asked by journalists to confirm their relationship. That’s dedication to privacy right there. All we have to go on is one Instagram picture and a vague acknowledgment by Pattinson during a Sunday Times interview that he has a girlfriend who’s also famous. It’s all very hush-hush.

76. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz

Hello! once called James Bond star Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz “one of the most private couples in Hollywood.” And there’s definitely some truth to that. Oscar winner Weisz has explained why, though, telling More magazine in 2015 that a wariness of fame was behind their desire for secrecy. She said, “[Daniel’s] just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage… One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don’t have to share everything.” Hear hear.
