The Cast of The Twilight Saga, Then and Now

After the massive success of the first fantasy flick in 2008, The Twilight Saga’s incredibly attractive cast were catapulted into mega-stardom. Across the globe, teenage girls everywhere just couldn’t get enough of those shirtless werewolves and devastatingly handsome vampires. In fact, fans adored the franchise so much that they made it a billion-dollar hit.

But all good things must come to an end, and while their characters might have been immortal, time hasn’t stood still for the stars themselves. Find out what they’ve been up to since they left Forks behind them.

20. Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan)

Twilight made Kristen Stewart world-famous, but she went on to even bigger things than Bella Swan. In fact, in 2015 Stewart made history as the first American actress ever to pick up a César Award. Today the star can demand some of the highest acting fees around, and she’s making a mint as a brand ambassador for Chanel too.

19. Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen)

The jury’s still out as to whether heartthrob Robert Pattinson actually enjoyed playing brooding vampire Edward Cullen, the hero of Twilight. Regardless, it made him rich and famous, and it certainly hasn’t harmed his career, either. Since he first glided on to our screens in 2008 Pattinson has secured a string of high-profile movie parts, including lead roles in Remember Me and Water for Elephants.

18. Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black)

Taylor Lautner looked set to capitalize on his stardom after Twilight, but things haven’t really worked out for the shirtless hunk. His 2011 release Abduction was a flop, and after that his star started to fade. Diehard fans, however, can soon catch the handsome actor on the small screen, where he is due to star in black comedy series Scream Queens.

17. Mackenzie Foy (Renesmee Cullen)

Renesmee was Edward and Bella’s daughter, a human-vampire hybrid with accelerated growth and supernatural gifts. But while it was undoubtedly a fun role for the young actress to play, Mackenzie Foy’s real breakthrough came later when, at age 13, she put in an award-winning performance as Murphy in Interstellar.

16. Anna Kendrick (Jessica Stanley)

It’s easy to forget that Anna Kendrick was even in the Twilight movies, because her role as Bella’s best friend Jessica wasn’t a big one and she’s done so much since. But the Pitch Perfect star still remembers her Twilight days fondly, even if she told Seth Meyers in June 2016 that the Twilight Saga movies possessed “the weirdest set [she’s] ever been on.”

15. Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen)

Model-turned-actor Kellan Lutz played Edward Cullen’s extremely ripped adoptive vampire brother, Emmett. These days Lutz is still ripped, still acting and also still buddies with Robert Pattinson. And Lutz has been putting those muscles to good use on the big screen too, playing the titular roles in both Tarzan and The Legend of Hercules.

14. Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen)

Ashley Greene played Alice Cullen in the hit franchise, and her sisterly ways made her a firm favorite among Twilight fans. But although Greene still acts, the actress has said she probably won’t play Alice again. In fact, she told MTV News in June 2015, “I’m very happy with the character of Alice, and people’s response to her, so I think I’m going to let her be.” Boo.

13. Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale)

Jackson Rathbone brought Jasper, a Civil War era vampire, to life for five movies… and then promptly dropped off the radar. However, that’s probably because he’s been busy raising a family: he’s married with two children, and his Twilight co-star Nikki Reed is godmother to one of them. Aww.

12. Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale)

Nikki Reed was just 19 when she was cast as Rosalie Hale, a character described in Stephanie Meyer’s books as “the most beautiful woman in the world.” But it was all worth it, with Reed later revealing that the role helped her gain bags of confidence. Plus, the beauty is now married to Ian Somerhalder – an actor also famous for playing a bloodsucker in The Vampire Diaries – so we’d guess the actress is pretty happy with her life as it stands now…

11. Edi Gathegi (Laurent)

You may have seen Edi Gathegi in any number of things – he’s been in X-Men, House, Justified and The Blacklist, to name just a few. However, teenage girls will remember him first and foremost as Laurent in Twilight, when he played a smoking hot – but rather terrifying – vampire.

10. Cam Gigandet (James)

Cam Gigandet was already known for The O.C. when he was cast as evil vampire James, but Twilight brought him to a whole new audience and a whole new level of fame. Since then, the actor has starred in Easy A, Burlesque and Reckless among other well-known, if not always critically acclaimed, movies and TV shows.

9. Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen)

Elizabeth Reaser has played many moms, but the most famous one to date is probably Esme Cullen, adoptive mother of the Cullen vampire clan. Audiences might also recognise the actress, though, from her star turns before and after Twilight in Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife and True Detective.

8. Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen)

Twilight was a while ago now, but Peter Facinelli, a.k.a. Carlisle Cullen, still considers himself part of the Twilight family. Although he’s moved on to other projects such as Supergirl, the actor still keeps in touch with his co-stars and has said that he would be more than interested in reprising his role if Stephenie Meyer ever pens another novel in the series. Here’s hoping she does, then…

7. Dakota Fanning (Jane)

Dakota Fanning was just blossoming from child star into adult star when she took on the role of Jane in the later Twilight films. Since then, the starlet has grown into a beautiful young woman and an accomplished actress to boot, appearing in a string of films including The Motel Life, The Runaways and Effie.

6. Rami Malek (Benjamin)

Egyptian-American actor Rami Malek played Egyptian vampire Benjamin in the Twilight saga… and after that, his career really took off. Most notably, Malek has received a string of award nominations for his starring role in the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime series Mr. Robot – all of which are well-deserved.

5. Michael Sheen (Aro)

Playing a villainous vampire named Aro may seem like an odd job for an acclaimed British actor like Michael Sheen to take, but he loved it. And Sheen continues to play unappealing characters to this day, most recently putting in a turn as the flawed but brilliant William H. Masters in Showtime’s Masters of Sex.

4. Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria)

Poor Rachelle Lefevre found herself at the center of one of the biggest Twilight controversies in 2009. Because just before the third movie was due to shoot, she was unceremoniously dumped from playing the part of Victoria and replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard. Lefevre came out of it okay, however, and soon picked up a long-running role in sci-fi series Under the Dome.

3. Bryce Dallas Howard (Victoria)

Bryce Dallas Howard was already fairly well-known when she joined Twilight in a storm of recasting controversy, after rising to fame in the award-winning thriller The Village. Naturally, she achieved even greater recognition for her turn as cold-blooded vampire Victoria. Now, Howard has yet another huge franchise under her belt after winning the lead role in Jurassic World.

2. Sarah Clarke (Renee Dwyer)

Not long after exiting the smash hit 24 franchise, Sarah Clarke was cast to play Bella’s mother Renee in Twilight. Indeed, during the filming of Eclipse, Kristen Stewart was the only one who knew Clarke was pregnant! These days, you can catch Clarke on TV in the police drama Bosch.

1. Billy Burke (Charlie Swan)

Billy Burke had been on TV for a long time before he secured the role of Charlie, Bella’s dad, in Twilight. And it turned out to be a good career move, as the popular actor went on to star in a number of movies and TV series including Red Riding Hood, Revolution and Zoo, to name but a few.
