From puppy love poses to intimate wedding shoots, photography is one of our favorite ways of documenting relationships and ensuring that happy memories last forever. And these lovebirds have found a touching new way of remembering the good times. By recreating old photographs from their romantic past, they’ve managed to relive some of their most cherished memories in a way that will completely restore your faith in love.
This couple, for example, went back to the very beach where they once stood as young lovers. And more than 50 years later, the happy twosome look every bit as enamored as they did in that first vacation snap – albeit in slightly different beachwear.
And while some couples might mark their 40th wedding anniversary with a special dinner or getaway, this pair of lovebirds went one step further. They squeezed right back into their wedding day clothes to restage the photos from that special day back in 1975.
This charming pair have recreated a moving portrait from the good old days – and they look closer than ever after all those years together. But while their dreamy expressions remain pretty much the same, it’s safe to say their fashion has had a bit of an update since.
The joyful expressions are undoubtedly the highlight of this fantastic recreation, which shows a pair of happy newlyweds performing the hora, or chair dance, at their wedding. And although the outfits aren’t quite the same all these years later, the smiles and laughter are spot on.
A shared sense of humor is arguably the key to any any happy relationship, and it’s certainly worked for these two mischievous lovebirds. And, sure, the groom looks slightly less happy about being force-fed cake than he did on his wedding day, but his bride looks every bit as thrilled.
If this sweetly sentimental photo doesn’t make you believe in soulmates, nothing will. These childhood sweethearts have known each other since they were just three years old, and so the ridiculously cute couple chose to have their wedding photos taken at the fairground where true love first bloomed.
Chinese couple Cao Yuehua and Wang Deyi went back to the park in Chongqing city where they first said “I do” – a whopping 70 years earlier. And over the decades, the 98-year-olds’ love has endured through many a trial and tribulation. In fact, the couple even managed to stay together through a forced separation during the Second World War.
As if kids at a wedding aren’t cute enough already! This little flower girl and ring bearer stole the show at a wedding back in 1995, and then they actually grew up to parade down the aisle again as man and wife 20 years later. Here they are recreating the adorable first walk that started it all.
Props to Katie and Joseph for their awesome attention to detail when it came to recreating the facial expressions and excellent party gear from this classic photo. These childhood sweethearts first set eyes on one another in elementary school. Little did they know, however, that when they grew up they would marry and have cute little partygoers of their own.
Forty-five years of marriage seems to have been kind to this couple, who look even happier now than they did tying the knot. When their son Matt talked them into restaging that special day, these two really went all out. Mom still looks stunning in white, while dad is dapper as ever in a smart suit.
Argentinian photographer Irina Werning recreated this cool photo of her very fashionably-in-love parents as part of her aptly named Back to the Future series. This new shot was taken in Buenos Aires in 2010, and it has managed to perfectly replicate the retro vibe of the 1970 original.
It’s hard to believe these quirky photos were taken 23 years apart. These two were originally photographed in 1992, while the most recent picture was taken just last year. And this woman was celebrating more than a long and happy relationship. She wrote under the photograph: “I am wearing the same jacket, which mysteriously did not do up, and the same earrings – woo hoo, something still fits!”
This couple’s love has endured through the decades, and they’ve got the photos to prove it. This incredible series of photos depicts an adorable husband and wife who have been married for more than 70 years. The pair were first pictured together as cute little kids dressed up in bride and groom costumes at a carnival way back in 1926. And as you can see, their childhood outfits were a prophecy of the long and happy relationship to come.
These ridiculously happy honeymooners were snapped in front of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1982. And in 2014 – after 32 years of wedded bliss – the couple went back to San Francisco to visit their daughter Holly. While there they decided to revisit that romantic memory, and Holly posted the heart-warming result on Reddit.
This couple have hardly changed at all! Lulu and Tom first set eyes on each other across the classroom, when Lulu was just 13. And the school kids must have liked what they saw because now, they’re happily married. The pair decided to re-stage those goofy puppy love days with this very accurate photograph, complete with cheesy teenage outfits and hair accessories.
Reddit user elstongunnn shared these adorable photos of his parents recreating a romantic moment from their youth. Mom and dad look every bit as happy together as they did in the original, which was taken 32 years previous. What’s more, they’ve barely aged at all!
This awesome recreation was originally posted on Reddit by the couple’s grandchild. The undeniably cool but kooky grandparents restaged a cheery moment from their big day – and they look every bit as fun 60 years later.
Alex and Adam knew they’d found “the one” from the very first moment they met. The pair were just 13, and it was the first day of high school. Now, the couple are 24 and happily married. Adam said about his meant-to-be romance, “I just fell in love with her straight away, and I’m so glad we ended up together.” Awwww.
Another Reddit user posted these brilliant pics of her friends recreating an ambitious pose from 1988, with the comment, “They’re by far the most awesome couple I know.” The recreation was taken in 2014, and the relationship looks even more stable than it did 26 years ago.
This utterly adorable couple were photographed in sixth grade and then again in 12th grade, in exactly the same awkward pose. And while the pair might look a lot smarter in the second pic, we love how they’ve managed to perfectly recreate the same goofy expressions.
