The countdown is well and truly on for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials, with only days to go until their wedding. Hopefully, all the guests are reaching peak excitement and have bought their presents for the happy couple by now. And a certain celebrity has revealed his gift for the royals – but you’ll never guess what it is.
Meghan is due to wed Harry in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, England. This bodes well in terms of safety, as the location is easy to protect. And here’s hoping that all the gifts are given with the couple’s best interests at heart. Indeed, while there are so many important questions flying around, one in particular has captured people’s imaginations. If in attendance, what does one buy for the royal couple?
Meghan and Harry met in the summer of 2016. Now they are ready to take the big step of tying the knot on Saturday, May 19, 2018. It hasn’t been all plain sailing for the couple, however, who have been very much in the public eye. And it seems that not everyone wishes them well.
For instance, in February 2018 an envelope containing a racist letter and a mysterious powder was delivered to St. James’ Palace. Luckily, the white substance was discovered to be harmless, although police officers looking into the matter investigated the case as a hate crime. Of course, such incidents cast a shadow over the fairytale romance.
The royal bride-to-be has already been hitched once before, in fact. Meghan married actor and producer Trevor Engelson in 2011, although they divorced in 2013. Just five years later, Meghan has two weddings lined up in one year! That’s right – this is not Meghan’s only wedding in 2018.
That’s because the final season of her television show Suits aired around the same time as her royal wedding in the real world. And her screen fiancé in the series is Canadian actor Patrick J. Adams. Their characters are Michael Ross and Rachel Zane, and they prepared to get married on April 25, 2018 – less than a month before Meghan and Harry’s big day.
Adams is prolific on Instagram and has posted photos of Meghan on the set of Suits. Some of the more candid images might not be to everyone’s tastes, however. For example, one commenter asked of a pic of Meghan lying on her back on the floor, “Has the Queen seen this?”
Moreover, Patrick penned an adorable Instagram tribute to Meghan in which he addressed Prince Harry himself. Adams wrote, “Playing Meghan’s television partner for the better part of a decade uniquely qualifies me to say this: Your Royal Highness, you are a lucky man and I know your long life together will be joyful, productive and hilarious. Meghan, so happy for you.”
In April 2018 Adams and his actress wife, Troian Bellisario, attended a This Bar Saves Lives function in LA. The two were interviewed there by ET regarding Meghan’s upcoming wedding. They spoke to Keltie Knight about the strange timing of the two weddings. “I think it’s, you know, synchronicity,” he said.
Knight asked if Adams had any tips for the royal marriage, and he sweetly replied that “Meghan doesn’t need any advice.” But as the interviewer continued her line of questioning, he did open up a little more, revealing an interesting nugget of information.
And that related to what Adams planned to purchase for his friend and colleague. He is, after all, perfectly positioned to buy a suitable gift – he’s known Meghan for many years now and in fact has more history with her than Harry does.
So what is the wedding gift that Adams is planning for his co-star? Well, the item in question would actually not be out of place in an average wedding registry. He announced that the choice was “between like a blender or a breadmaker, you know something classy… like a Vitamix.”
Adams then explained the reasoning behind his idea and claimed that he was encouraging healthy habits for the couple. Meghan loves keeping fit and often goes for jogs in London. And it’s also been reported that her lifestyle choices have had an influence on Harry.
The prince now begins his day in a more wholesome way. Indeed, according to an authority on the British royal family, Katie Nicholl, his drink of choice is “a green juice, just like Meghan.” And Adams seems to approve of the rumors of this lifestyle.
Moreover, it’s not the first time that Meghan’s co-star has proved his talent for comedy online. Commenting on the royal engagement announcement, Adams took to social media and retweeted Kensington Palace’s statement.
Adams’ humorous accompanying message read, “She said she was just going out to get some milk…” And his wisecrack certainly proved to be popular. Indeed, more than 400,000 people liked the actor’s tweet.
One day later, the Canadian returned to Twitter to share the news that Meghan would be leaving the show, writing, “So….no milk?” Maybe he was having a hard time accepting that his co-star would be jumping ship and beginning her new royal life.
Although at the time of the interview it still wasn’t clear whether Adams and his wife would be attending the wedding, there was apparently no doubt that the Vitamix would make it to Windsor. In Adams’ words, “That you know. No, that’s for sure, that’s definite.” And maybe the actor was simply being coy for the camera and intended to deliver the present in person!
So, while fans might be mourning the departure of their favorite characters Mike and Rachel, at least they can comfort themselves with the thought that the actors who played them seem to be living full and happy lives. Or they can reassure themselves that a Vitamix is en route to Meghan, for guaranteed domestic bliss!
It must be difficult to navigate the social minefield of buying presents for a royal wedding. But Meghan’s co-star seemingly hasn’t let the issue flummox him and has come up with a funny and thoughtful offering. Let’s hope that Meghan and Harry get lots of use out of it.
