Kim Kardashian Is Expecting Her Third Child, But The Internet Is Refusing To Call Her Pregnant

Five years after giving birth to daughter North and three after son Saint, Kim Kardashian is set to be adding another child to her world-famous family. However, the star almost broke the internet again when news emerged of how she and her husband Kanye West have decided to bring a third baby into the world. And here’s why.

Kim first became pregnant in 2012, just months after she first began dating Kanye West. The rapper announced the news in typically bold fashion while performing at a gig in Atlantic City. Kim had previously spoken about her desire to have kids with West while on The View.

Kim recently revealed that she once thought that she’d miscarried during her first pregnancy. Doctors told her that they couldn’t find a heartbeat during a routine check-up and advised her that she would need a procedure to have the fetus removed. Thankfully, a heartbeat was later discovered and North was born a healthy baby in June 2013.

However, Kim also had to deal with a range of pre-natal issues before giving birth to North. The star suffered from preeclampsia, a condition which causes the body and particularly the feet to swell up. Ultimately, Kim had to deliver almost six weeks earlier than expected at 34 weeks.

If that wasn’t enough, Kim also experienced another complication following North’s birth: placenta accreta. This is where the placenta attaches to the wall of the uterus, often resulting in heavy bleeding. Thankfully for Kim, her doctor quickly spotted the issue and was able to detach the placenta.

Despite these problems, Kim wasted little time in fully committing herself to getting pregnant again. She did acknowledge, though, that she might actually be putting her own life in jeopardy should they prove to be successful. However, the star told Today’s Matt Lauer that she was desperate to expand her family without resorting to alternative methods.

Indeed, Kim once joked that she and Kanye were having sex “500 times a day” to ensure that they conceived as quickly as possible. And conceive they did, with Kim announcing that she was pregnant for a second time in a teaser for Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Saint West would be born in December 2015. Unfortunately, things once again did not run smoothly.

Indeed, Kim was forced to undergo a painful operation when doctors discovered that her unborn child was in the breech position. The star also had to bring her planned labor date forward by several weeks because of the increased risk of further complications. And, once again, Kim suffered the issue of placenta accreta that she had experienced with her first pregnancy.

Little wonder then that Kim described being pregnant as the worst time of her life. In fact, the star took to her very own app to admit that unlike sister Kourtney and mother Kris, she didn’t enjoy a minute of it. She listed back pain and swelling as two of the main reasons that she hated the experience.

However, she also acknowledged that all the hardships she went through were “100 percent worth it and more.” The star admitted that she did enjoy the post-baby workouts, though. “I enjoy the challenge of getting my body back after it’s all over. I feel so accomplished when I’m back to where I want to be.”

Having experienced two difficult pregnancies, Kim decided to take a new approach for baby number three. She and Kanye would use a surrogate. They reportedly paid nearly $70,000 to an agency and $45,000 to their chosen surrogate to give Saint and North another sibling.

The popularity of surrogacy in America has grown significantly since the turn of the century. According to Alabama-based non-profit SART (the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology), 1,593 babies were born in America to gestational surrogacy in 2011. This was compared to 1,353 in 2009 and 738 in 2004.

In September 2017 news emerged that the surrogate Kim and Kanye had hired was indeed pregnant. The woman in question was due to give birth to a baby girl in January 2018. And as you’d expect, the internet had plenty to say on the matter. Unfortunately not all of it was positive.

Indeed, some online commenters took umbrage with the wording of the news, arguing that the announcement that Kim Kardashian was pregnant was misleading. Others believed that Kim and Kanye were simply trying to steal third-time pregnant Kate Middleton’s thunder. However, several surrogacy support and advocacy organizations came to the defense of the star.

Rumors inevitably began to circulate over the identity of the woman carrying the power couple’s baby. The pair had previously rejected a surrogacy offer from Kim’s mother Kris Jenner. But some gossipmongers believed that Kim had still kept things in the family by choosing her younger half-sister Kylie, instead.

However, that rumor was soon laid to rest when TMZ stated that Kylie had separately fallen pregnant herself. The reality star and her rapper boyfriend, Travis Scott, are reportedly due to welcome their first child in February 2018. And that wasn’t the end of the Kardashian baby news, either.

Indeed, shortly after, multiple sources revealed to People magazine that yet another Kardashian was also expecting. Khloe and her NBA-star partner, Tristan Thompson, were reportedly due to become parents in March 2018. That meant that there would be three new additions to the Kardashian clan in as many months.

Rumors subsequently surfaced that Kim had reacted badly to the news that she wouldn’t be the only Kardashian expecting a child in early 2018. People magazine reported that she’d replied, “Seriously?” when she heard of Kylie’s pregnancy. However, Kim later took to Twitter to dismiss the story as being false.

Meanwhile, details of Kim’s choice of surrogate eventually began to emerge. The woman is an African-American resident of San Diego who is married and has two young sons of her own. We also know that she’s in her late twenties, a college graduate, a registered Democrat and that she’s been a surrogate in the past.

Kim and Kanye might not stop at a third child, though. According to People magazine, the rapper is keen to have a family of five or six. And although Kim was initially a little unsure about the idea, she has apparently begun to warm to it.
