20. Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger

Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger wed in 1993 after falling for each other on the set of The Marrying Man. But in 2000, the one-time golden couple separated in sensationally bitter style. In 2003 Basinger likened her ex-hubby to Saddam Hussein and described him as a “tin pot tyrant,” while in 2008 Baldwin lambasted the former model in his contentious book, A Promise to Ourselves.

19. Kelsey and Camille Grammer

Frasier star Kelsey Grammer’s marriage unraveled on reality TV thanks to his wife Camille’s 2010 appearance on The Real Wives of Beverly Hills. And the pair, who married in 1997, haven’t stopped airing their dirty laundry since. Mere months after the couple’s 2011 divorce, in fact, Kelsey admitted to Piers Morgan on CNN that his former spouse had been asking for the marriage to be over from “really almost the first day we were married.” Ouch.

18. David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach

The phrase “too much info” springs to mind when you consider David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach’s 2006 split. The Knight Rider star claimed that his ex-wife was addicted to alcohol and cocaine, while the Hoff himself was accused of domestic abuse, contracting herpes and wetting the bed. Messy.

A war of words also erupted when Sara Evans filed for divorce during her 2006 Dancing with the Stars stint. The country singer claimed Craig Schelske had an excessive pornography habit, while he accused her of cheating on him with Kenny Chesney and several members of 3 Doors Down.

16. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned – and after her four-year marriage to Paul McCartney ended in 2006, Heather Mills definitely went on the attack. She accused the Beatles legend of cutting her with a broken wine glass, described his daughter Stella as “evil” and even questioned his musical skills.

15. Hulk and Linda Hogan

Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife Linda proved to be a much fiercer competitor than any he’d encountered in the wrestling ring. Hogan’s wife of 24 years left him in 2007 after discovering he’d been unfaithful, and walked away with 70 per cent of their financial assets. In her 2011 autobiography, the reality star later accused Hogan of being violent during their marriage, too.

14. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards

Denise Richards put up with Charlie Sheen’s drug habit, infidelity and gambling for three years before finally calling time on their relationship in 2005. Charmer Sheen then sent a text message to his actress ex in which she claimed that he wished her cancer, told her to rot in hell and described her as a “sad, jobless pig.”

13. Liza Minnelli and David Gest

Odd couple Liza Minnelli and David Gest surprised few when they announced their split just a year after the ickiest wedding kiss of all time. But more shocking were the reasons behind the separation: Gest accused the singer of deliberately giving him herpes, while Minnelli fired back with accusations of domestic abuse – and even claimed he’d tried to spike her with drugs. The pair finally divorced in 2007.

12. Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook

Christie Brinkley’s fourth divorce proved to be the messiest. The ex-supermodel’s split with architect Peter Cook made the tabloids in 2008 when it emerged that not only had he had an affair with an 18-year-old, he’d also attempted to buy her silence. Brinkley and Cook even continued trashing each other long after their subsequent custody battle.

11. Terrence Howard and Michelle Ghent

Terrence Howard is renowned for being hot-headed on screen, and if his ex-wife Michelle Ghent is to be believed the actor is just as volatile off it. The Oscar nominee married Ghent in 2012 but received a restraining order just a year later, when he allegedly threatened to fling her off a balcony. The couple divorced in 2013.

10. Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon

This indecisive pair have the distinction of experiencing two messy marriages. Baywatch pin-up Pamela Anderson had her first wedding to film producer Rick Salomon annulled in 2008, citing fraud. The pair decided to remarry in 2014, only to split again shortly after, with Salomon describing Anderson as a “serial baby killer” in the legal paperwork. Ugly.

9. Anne Heche and Coley Laffoon

Anne Heche surprised everyone in 2001 when, a year after splitting with Ellen DeGeneres, she wed the male cameraman from her ex-girlfriend’s tour. Things got truly ugly six years later, though, when during a pretty public divorce the actress revealed that Coley Laffoon had a porn addiction. Laffoon, meanwhile, accused Heche of being mentally unstable.

8. Dennis Hopper and Victoria Duffy

You could fill an entire book with the number of accusations that were hurled around during the late Dennis Hopper’s nasty divorce settlement in 2010. The Speed star took out a restraining order against ex Victoria Duffy after describing her as “inhuman,” “insane” and “volatile.” In turn, Duffy claimed that the actor had tried to murder her on several occasions– yikes.

The phrase “I told you so” was no doubt uttered when the pop star later had to fight for custody of his two boys. Country singer Randy Travis and his manager Elizabeth Travis are living proof that you should never mix business with pleasure. After going through a messy marriage break-up in 2010, the pair both filed lawsuits claiming that the other had intentionally jeopardized their career.

Fawlty Towers legend John Cleese was so incensed at the $20m being paid out to ex-wife Alyce Eichelberger after their 2008 divorce that he decided to name his 2011 tour “Alimony.” The funnyman also launched a dig at his ex when he later claimed that his relationship with next wife Jennifer Wade was the first time he’d truly been in love.

2. Rosie O’Donnell and Michelle Rounds

Rosie O’Donnell was one of the first celebrities to discover that a same-sex marriage can also lead to a messy same-sex divorce. Ex-wife Michelle Rounds alleged after legal documents were filed in 2015 that the TV personality wasn’t a responsible parent to their two-year-old daughter and was very fond of pot and alcohol.

1. Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose

While they were together, Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose weren’t shy about declaring their love for one another to the whole world – but the pair were just as quick to publicly stab each other in the back upon their marriage’s end in 2014.
